#Damage
"I really hate these new ABX controls. The Panel was fine with one button," XD was not one to like change.
V, his tall companion nodded. "Well the BVDZX department felt there were too many accidents lately. According to their new report, there has been a five percent increase in fatal accidents. Mostly because everyone kept pressing the button three times instead of four."
"ABX knows four is for landing and three is for firing the lasers."
"Yeah, but the new recruits are as the hu-mans say, i-diots." V laughed at his own joke.
XD was too busy pushing the buttons on the panel to join in.
"Fine, but do we really need thirty new blinking buttons?"
V shrugged. "The ZXD department got a wholesale discount. Save a whole six billion XT with the contract."
"They could have saved the fifty trillion XT it cost to get these new torture devices by just training the newbies better," XD grumbled as he kept pressing the blinking lights.
"You know how it works." V punched in the coordinates on the screen. "I'm almost positive it had to do with what happened with planet 555."
"But it was on the list to be destroyed." Xd didn't bother looking at his partner, worried that he would lose track of the buttons he had already pushed.
V scoffed. "They didn't follow protocol, just blew it up by accident."
"Great and now I have to pay for it."
Noticing how upset his usually happy partner was V scanned their destination log. He smiled when he saw their next stop. "Guess what? I just received confirmation that we will be visiting planet 1768, your favorite planet."
XD stopped and looked up. "We're going to see the hu-mans again?"
V grinned. "Yes and this time our mission is to infiltrate the Hollow-ween celebration. We will need to blend in with the crowd."
"That's new. We were only supposed to observe."
"It seems that Species 872 is gearing up to invade. The higher-ups want us to report whether we should block the invasion and assist in their punny attempts at space travel or just allow 872 to destroy them."
"I didn't know that Species 872 was interested in the hu-mans."
"Apparently, they do."
XD was quiet before his eyes light up. "Maybe we can see what the tiny humans we scared last time are up to." And I can catch up on my Hallmark movies, XD thought.
"Good idea."
XD turned back to the panel.
"Okay, I have finally unlocked the controls. Just another four more thirty button combinations to go and we can finally take off."
V sighed. There were times he wondered if maybe the higher-ups had too much time on their hands because whenever they had one of their meetings, they ended causing more damage than their solutions solved.
