LACROSSE TRY-OUTS PART 1
"I lost a friend,
like keys in a sofa,
like a wallet in the back seat,
like ice on the summer heat."- I lost a friend, FINNEAS
Isaac was warming up with the rest of the guys who wanted to try out for the team, his brows knitted in concentration as he stretched out his muscles and jumped slightly in his place to let them loosen up.
His eyes couldn't help but dart towards the benches where Josie was sitting alone on the left side. Earlier, he had had the pleasant surprise to find that he also had Chemistry, English and History class with her.
He squealed on the inside when she shyly asked him if it would be okay if she sat next to him, she repeated the question each time they entered the new class, and he could only nod like an idiot each time. He was thankful to whatever was that had made her try to reconnect their friendship because it was giving him enough motivation to play his best.
Josie noticed that Lydia Martin, a girl who was the typical superficial mean girl, according to Isaac, and Allison Argent, the other new girl, were sitting on the other end of the bench to watch the try-outs.
Hearing the last name Argent had sirens going off in her head. She had been taught about the Argents and other families of hunters. They were just as monstrous as the 'monsters' they claimed to hunt. They had slaughtered so many people, entire families, innocents, in the worst ways possible.
She had to warn her mother and Derek, and then stay as far away from them as possible.
Isaac put on his helmet once the coach called everyone to get in line so they could begin practicing shots to the goal. But his eyebrows furrowed once he noticed that Danny wasn't going to play goalkeeper as usual, it as McCall (if he was not mistaken). He, just like Isaac himself, had been on the bench the year before and Isaac couldn't help but feel bad for the guy, he wasn't the best and had been assigned to public humiliation by the goal.
But, much to everyone's surprise, after missing the first ball thrown his way, McCall caught all of them. Before Isaac could get the chance to try, Jackson pushed the guy in front of him to the side, his jerk attitude on full on. But not even Jackson, the captain, could score.
From that on, practice was almost a complete waste of time. It was all about McCall showing off his newly discovered talent for lacrosse while the rest of the guys were left to stand behind and watch Jackson fuming about not being able to score.
The coach shortly called everyone to gather around and told them that the selection would continue the next day.
Bummed because of the whole try-outs fiasco, Isaac made his way to the locker room and changed back into his normal clothes, not seeing the point on taking an extra shower when he hadn't even had the chance to break a sweat.
