Chapter 5: Buttting Heads, A Suprise Find and Reality Check

Mark looks at Aphrodite with a shocked look on his face. She coldly stares at him then says, "I didn't fulfill Gabrielle's dying wish for Xena and her to have a second chance to be together again just so her father in her second lifetime would treat her like shit!"

"Their sinning in the eyes of the Lord!" Mark says seriously.

"Says who?" Aphrodite asks angrily.

"God!" Mark says.

"Did he appear in front of you and personally tell you this!?!" Aphrodite says.

"No! Mark says confused. " My pastors at my church have preached this since I could remember."

"And did your God appear in front of them and tell them this?" Aphrodite asks seriously.

"No! It's written in the Bible." Mark says confused.

"Did your God actually write the Bible?" Aphrodite asks

"No!! Men throughout history wrote it!" Mark says seriously. "What are you getting at with this?"

Aphrodite walks around Mark and says, "The God you worship, I know him. We sort of have a partnership going on, you know, with me being the Goddess of Love and all." Mark gets a wide-eyed look as Aphrodite continues, "Your God loves everyone, no matter what walk of life or who they love."

"But it says in the Bible.." Mark starts to say, but is cut off by Aphrodite.

"Love is love!" Aphrodite yells, "No matter if your straight, gay, bi, whatever! In the eyes of your God, he loves everyone! No matter who they love. What he doesn't like is people who are closed minded and hate others because of what men have been feeding into their hearts, minds and souls for centuries!" Aphrodite grabs Mark's chair, stares into his eyes and says, "You have changed so much Mark.You used to have a twinkle of hope in your eyes and compassion in your heart for everyone and everything. That's what drew Allyson to you when you two first met back in high school."

Mark gets a shocked look on his face and asks, "How did you know that?"

"I'm the Goddess of Love!" Aphrodite says, "I put you two together so Gabrielle could be reborn again!"

"Yeah right!" Mark scoffs.

Thunder and lightning flashes in back of Aphrodite, scaring him a bit. She gives him a serious look and says, "September of 97 is when you first laid eyes on Allyson! She'd just moved here from Colorado and her parents just opened a new restaurant here in town, the same one she owns today. You accidentally knocked her books over in the hallway at your high school. You bent down to help her pick them up, you gazed into her eyes and you were hooked" Mark becomes shocked by what Aphrodite revealed. "You both were sophomores and you'd just made varsity football as the schools back-up QB, but all you could do was think about Allyson. You even told your older brother, Tyler and I quote, "When I looked into her eyes, I saw magic! I saw our whole life together. I can even see our kids!"

You're right!" Mark says shocked.

"You were so nervous that it took a week or two to ask her out, but when you did, and she said yes, you were so excited that when your first string QB got injured, you threw three touchdowns at the next game you played in." Aphrodite says.

"I remember!" Mark says smiling.

Aphrodite smirks and says, "Do you remember before your first date, you sat down and wrote her a poem."

"When I first saw you, my soul knew you were the one. You captivated my heart and your beauty made me smile like a rainbow after a midday storm.", they both recite.
