Jack P.O.V

My phone rang as I got back to my bedroom, towelling my hair once more I sat down, before leaning over to pick up the iPhone and answering the call.

"Hello?" My voice sounded raspy and weak, I cleared it a second time.

"Hey, Jack, it's me. I was wondering if you could help me pick out a wedding ring? I'm hopeless."

I froze slightly before continuing. "Um, sure."

"Thanks bro! I'll be over soon."

I disconnected the call.

Clasping my damp head against my hands, I groaned.

"Is it really worth fighting to get you back, Alex?" I mumbled.

With that, I stood up from the bed and proceeded to head to my wardrobe, where I threw onto the bed; a pair of old faded blue skinny jeans, a green day t-shirt, and some clean boxers. Slipping them on I brushed through my hair roughly and blow dried it straight. Slipping on a gray beanie over it I headed downstairs to where the doorbell had just rang. Throwing open the door I headed to kitchen where I then poured in some cereal for myself.

"Hey there." Alex grinned at me, I nodded in response and continued munching my cereal. After finishing up I threw my dishes in the sink and headed for the living room, then being thrown into a hug which almost sent me toppling backwards.

"Geez man, you could've at least given me a hug."

"Hah, why? It's not like we're dating or anything." I said bitterly. A little too bitterly.

Alex pulled away from the hug and frowned at me confusingly.

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"...Nothing, nothing." I narrowed my eyes.

"Jack, look at me..." Alex's hands cupped around my face, his honey brown eyes burned into mine with intensity. He leaned in closer when I stepped back away from him.

"Come on, let's go find a *wedding ring* for *Taylor*" I pressed on the words, gritting my teeth tightly.

After effortless hours of searching through websites for many wedding rings I finally gave a vain desicion on one. I narrowed my eyes while Alex took the laptop

from me, entering his card details for it to be purchased and delivered. Keeping my eyes still, glaring a hole into the floor.

Suddenly, cold hands caught my attention as a familiar body climbed into my lap. His lips pressed onto mine and I almost moaned.

Almost.

Sliding my hands up to his chest I gently-but still roughly...

...Pushed him off of me, his shocked expression remained on his face for another moment before he opened his mouth to speak, to which I beat him to it.

I took a deep breath before blurting out the words that spoke the truth.

"No, Alex. I am not going to carry on like this behind Taylor's back. You can't just kiss me then go back to your house and fuck her almost every night. Now you'll have to choose, Alex. You're getting married to her for crying out loud."

"I-I-I can't." He stuttered, his honey brown eyes held far too many emotions... fear, above all.

"You can't, but you have to Alex." I said a little more gently this time.

Silence.

"Time is ticking, Alex..." I glanced at the clock on the wall.

A knock at the door startled us from our trances slightly, but I still remained looking at him, eyebrow raised, eyes rock solid fixtured onto his face, into his eyes.

I heard a creek of the front door, before that well known voice appeared.

"Hey, Alex! Jack."

"Taylor, baby, hey." I finally removed my eyes from him to meet Taylor. I nodded at her and forced a smile which she returned. She walked up to Alex and wrapped her arms around his neck, pecking eachother lightly, they clasped hands and headed for the door.

"Seeya, Jack!" Taylor laughed.

"Bye, Jack." Alex muttered as he walked past me.

My heart stung, I felt like I was going to collapse. As the love of my life walked out the door, hands clasped with the wrong person.
