Reminder

Every soul shall taste death
It's the law of life
Yet it's the one fundamental thing we forget

Like a systematic line
Our turn will arrive
Yet we feign ignorance
Drowning in the temporary entice the world provides

Perhaps the unknowing are better at luck
Than the knowing and ignoring
Who voluntarily wrap themselves in sins
Even if they are aware of the Almighty

Perhaps the death of a close one jolts them back to reality
It changes the mentality
As they are reminded of the accountability

As they grieve in sorrow,
they realize their deeds are hollow
And they haven't prepared
For what is declared

Pulling death out of the equation, we live merrily
Unbeknownst to us, the end arrives hurriedly
Today, tomorrow, now, the next second
No one is aware of the reckoned

Hence, today, let this serve as a reminder
For me, for you, to be kinder
To be a follower
To be a believer
To be a soldier
Who fights for Allah
Till the moment his breaths are clogged
And he knows that the journey henceforth is to Allah
And to Him do we all return
