“That was fun,” Jennie said after everyone had left. “Thank you so much for everything, Lisa. There wouldn’t have been a dinner without your help.”
“No problem, I had fun too,” Lisa said, piling up the plates. “Your friends are lovely, and it was great to have some quality time with Marie-Louise again. It’s a shame we lost touch over the years.”
She carried the plates into the kitchen and put them next to the rest of the dishes that had been sitting there all night. “Why don’t we forget about this for now, huh?” She gestured to the mess. “Let’s have a nightcap by the pool instead, I’ll help you clean up tomorrow.”“Sure.” Jennie folded up the tablecloth and put it on the kitchen counter. “I would love that.” She was nervous but tried not to let it show. The wine had gone to her head and she felt like a teenager going to her first prom. There was no point denying the tension that had been hanging between them all night, and Jennie was far beyond her breaking point now. If Lisa kissed her tonight, she would kiss her back. And if she didn’t kiss her, well, she’d probably be lying awake all night again, fantasizing about it.
“Pastis?” Lisa asked, holding up a bottle with clear liquid.
Jennie studied the label. “I’ve never had it, but I’ll try anything once.”
“Anything?” Lisa poured two tumblers with a smirk on her face.
Jennie didn’t answer. She took the glass from Lisa, who held on to it for a fraction of a second too long. “Come on,” she said, beckoning Jennie to follow her to the poolside.
They sat down on the edge of the pool and lowered their feet into the water. Jennie felt a warm sensation in her throat, spreading all the way down to her toes as she drank her Pastis. It was strong but pleasant. “It’s good,” she said. “Aniseed?”
Lisa nodded. The light from the pool cast a glow on her face. It brought out her dark eyes, and when she smiled, Jennie felt herself going weak. There was only so much she could take. “I’m really glad you’re here, Jen.”
“Me too,” Jennie whispered. Kiss me. Please kiss me.
“Do you want to go for a swim?” Lisa asked.
Jennie looked at the dimly lit pool in the now dark garden, then fixed her gaze back on Lisa. There was something in Lisa's eyes that made her shiver with anticipation. Lisa was hungry for her, and she knew it.
“Yeah.” She hesitated. “I’ll go and put on my bikini. I’ll be right back.”
Lisa took her by her wrist when she was about to get up. “You don’t have to.” She smiled, biting her lip. “We could go skinny dipping?” She shrugged. “It’s not like anyone’s going to see us here.”
“Oh… Okay.” Jennie nodded slowly. She tried to stay calm, but her body was doing its own thing. The stir she felt at Lisa's proposal filled her mind with thoughts she wasn’t sure she could handle.
They stood up in silence, both far too aware of what the other was thinking. Lisa pulled her shirt over her head and took off her shorts and boxers. She threw them onto one of the sun loungers and dove in. Jennie's jaw dropped as she watched her reappear, stunned at the sight of Lisa's small but full breasts, shimmering in the faint light. Naked, in the pool, she looked more beautiful than Jennie could have ever imagined.
“Come on in, it’s nice!” Lisa waved from the far, shallow end of the pool.
Jennie decided not to overthink it. She took off her dress and unclipped her bra at the back. She felt Lisa's eyes on her as she let it drop to the ground. Then she removed her panties and dove in too.
