You angrily wiped away the tears that spilled down your face and roughly pushed the door open. You rubbed the lipstick off your mouth with the back of your hand.

The diner faded away as you walked outside in the cold night air.

Stanley had ditched you once again.

This was your third attempt to go on a date with Stan. Sure, you two were only best friends since you were little, but recently you noticed you were looking at him in a different way. And you were now repeatedly calling yourself idiotic for thinking he felt the same way too.

The first two times he had been busy with Sydney. The girl who he barely knew and barely started talking to and barely made up his mind to become his friend.

Stan was blowing you off here and there and it started to hurt. You wanted to tell him how you felt, but you never got the chance.

You finally made it to your house; but, as you stood on your front door step, you glanced at Stan's house that was right across from yours. Fighting with yourself, you decided to just go inside your home and attempt to forget about the amount of pain you were feeling.

Opening the door, your mother smiled hopefully at you but noticed your tear stained cheeks and the smudged lipstick you had wiped off.

"He didn't show again?"

You slowly shook your head and fell into her open arms.

The next morning which was Saturday, you didn't care to move. You just listened to Bloodwitch even though it reminded you of him.

His curly hair, his dorky smile, his face when it lit up when he saw you, his clothes that you always helped him choose at the thrift stores, his room that always seemed to be so comforting to you, his arms that would hold you tight whenever you cried or just needed a hug, and the way he spoke to you.

You wanted to call him but resisted the urge since you were tired of chasing after him when he was obviously falling for someone else.

You let out a disgruntled sigh and screamed into your pillow.

An urgent knock sounded on your window which scared you senseless. Who was knocking on your window at nine in the morning?

You scrambled off your bed and grabbed the baseball bat that was next to your nightstand. You hastily opened the window shade and the window itself and was ready to hit whoever it was.

"SHIT! NOT MY FACE! NOT MY FACE!" Stanley screeched and fell to the ground. Luckily for him, you lived in a one story house.

You threw the bat down and blew air through your nostrils, "What the hell do you want, Stanley?"

He caught his breath and stood up to the window, "I wanted to come here to apologize and tell you why I wasn't there last night."

"Why should I even listen to your excuse? This is the third time you've skipped out on me. Were you with Sydney again?"

Stan nodded his head, "Yes but being with her I finally realized something. And she slapped some common sense into me."

"You like her?"

"Yeah, I do, but as a..."

"I knew it! Why was I so dumb to even think you liked me that certain way? Of course you didn't share the same feelings as me, of fucking course!"

"(Y/N)..."

"No! You should just leave. I know you'd much rather be with her than with me! I knew I was just some best friend and nothing else. How could I have ever thought you'd love me back."

You froze, realizing what you had just admitted to him.

He seemed in shock too, but then a smile started to grow on his face.

"Fuck, you're going to never let me forget about this."

You put your face in your hands and heard Stan climbing through the window.

He slowly removed your hands from you face and held them tightly in his own, "Hey, I'm never going to let you forget about that. You know why?"

"Because I made a fool of myself."

"No, because of what I'm going to do next."

Stan suddenly leaned forward and planted a soft & gentle kiss on your lips. He pulled away slowly and saw your shocked expression, "I love you too, (Y/N)."

"Wow, not what I was expecting but that was... wow."

"I spent all that time with Sydney because I was expressing to her how much I love you and I was afraid of messing our friendship up. I didn't want to risk telling you it, so I thought if I separated myself from you, I would stop feeling that certain way towards you. All it made me realize was that it was impossible to do something like that and I needed to tell you as soon as possible, no matter what your response would be."

You were absolutely blown away by what he said, and not knowing what to say in response, you grabbed the back of his neck and smashed your lips to his again.

He responded by placing his hands on your hips and pulling you closer.

You smiled into the kiss and so did he, and you were both glad that that certain way you felt about each other finally payed off.
