Her fingers interwined to the cigarette stick as she puffed out smoke from her lips.
She jolted forwards as she felt an arm rested on her shoulder.
"Hey, you seem cold, want me to warm you up?" a boy in his teens said while giving his brightest smile.
"What do you want from me, pervert." she said with a cold tone to her voice, her arms crossed and the stick of cigarette inches away from her mouth.
"Me? Pervert? Pfft. When I said warm you up, I meant giving you a hug, dummy." he said, pulling her closer to him. She nearly tripped as he did so.
"Listen here, Brandon, if you don't want to get beat up, I suggest you stop fooling around and just act mature for once." she said as she breathe in the smoke of the small roll of porous paper.
"What ever, Hailee. You're the one who's inhaling harmful chemicals to your body. Then you're here teaching me about maturity." he said as he pouted his lips.
She glanced over the teen and grinned. This was Brandon Lewis. Her friend. Her brother. Her enemy.
To her, he was everything.
To him, she was just another girl who was addicted to cigarettes yet he still treats her like a sister.
Brandon was months older than Hailee. They met just years back in high school. It's just your typical late back high school romance novel, but without the romance.
Hailee has always been so confused about her relationship with Brandon. She wants to take their relationship a step further but she thinks Brandon doesn't feel the same way for her.
Brandon has always been immature since the day they first met. Always getting into trouble.
Hailee has always been there to cover up for Brandon. Hailee has tried to show Brandon her feelings since high school by giving small hints and some cute gestures however Brandon was too blind to see the true purposes of Hailee's actions.
Hailee exhaled the smoke from her nose as she remembered how she tried to confess her feelings to the other. It was just like an old romance novel over and over. She told him she liked him and he told her he liked her too.
She was overwhelmed ti'll he said he only liked her as a sister. Her heart broke into pieces.
Never again will she confess her feelings to such an immature male.
She threw the cigarette to the ground and stepped on in until it was completely ripped apart and useless.
Brandon noticed her behaviour and asked, "Hey, having a rough day?"
"No, just some bad thoughts." she said as she exhaled.
"You want some?" she asked Brandon as she offered some cigarette sticks to him.
Brandon could only look at the stick with disgust before refusing. "No thanks, that's bad for my lungs." he said as if making sure Hailee could hear it.
Hailee shoved her packs of cigarette in the pockets of her ripped jeans and started to walk away.
It was late night and Hailee was hanging around the neighbourhood to smoke. It's a normal routine for her every night, she would go around the same spot on the neighbourhood and smoke.
A lot of people in her life have already told her to stop smoking but just like the spoiled teen she is, she didn't.
Hailee has become addicted to nicotine.
"Hey! Where are you going!?" Brandon yelled from behind, not bothering to keep up.
Hailee turned around and started walking backwards as she raised her middle finger to the air.
