Making Decisions Chapter 4

Annotation: Hey guys! I hope you guys are enjoying the fanfic so far! This chapter seemed pretty short to me but the next chapter will be longer I promise!😉

15 mins. later

After we were done eating we went outside.

"Hey (y/n) where you off to now?"

"I'm not sure exactly?" I shrugged.

"Well we can drive to the park and talk there more? offered Carter.

"Umm... You know what? Sure! I need someone to cool my mind off anyways!" I said when we both walked to his car.

5 mins. later

We got to the parking lot in the park and went to sit down by the grass.
It started to be more like a date than a talk tbh. I mean eating lunch with him and now sitting on the grass with him in a park. Carter always start conversations. Yea he's that type of guy. But it didn't bother me I felt okay with it. We talked mostly about what happened in the morning and ended up talking to about more of our personal things. I didn't know why but I felt comfortable talking about it with him. Matt never really asked or talked about our personal things to each other. Only one time but that conversation didn't last as long than I expected.

We talked for almost 2 hrs. which was unbelievable. Usually that's what I expected that I would talk to Matt that long. But I was wrong. By now it's like 7:35 and we stopped talking and ended up going on the swings for a bit longer before it got too dark.

"So (y/n), you feel at least a bit better?"

"A bit? I feel a whole lot better! Thanks Carter!" I hugged Carter for 3 seconds and broke the hug.

"Good! If you ever need anything (y/n) I'm always, I mean ALWAYS here for you."

"Thanks Carter! I really appreciate it!"

"It's getting pretty dark you know? You want me to drive you home?"

"That would be lovely!" I smiled.

"Okay! Let's go I'm getting pretty cold out right now." chuckles Carter.

"Haha ok Carter!"

Carter drove me home. My mom knew that I was gonna go hang with Matt but my day didn't end like that. When Carter pulled up by the driveway I said goodbye to him and hugged him showing thanks for everything. My mom opened the door for me and Carter pulled out and left.

"Umm (y/n) who was that? Who's that kid that just dropped you off?"

I stood here in silence.

"(y/n)?!" She got louder.

"It was a friend." I said.

"Oh ok" my mom said.

I walked to my room changed into pjs and went to the bathroom to brush my hair and my teeth. Later that night I laid in my bed thinking why I said "was"? I might jus-wait no! How can I possibly fall in love with my ex-boyfriend's BEST FRIEND? Carter has been my friend for almost 5 years by now. Which feels so weird. After we met during the end of the tour I never really talked to Carter. But when I talked to him at the park I felt so comfortable that I could tell him anything. I don't know if Carter is gonna be my friend for long. I just don't know anymore.
