"But mom I dont want to go!" I whined.

"Adrian, It's nice to see who your neighbors are and if you can find any kids in your grade!" my mom snapped back.

"Mom, I'm new here, im not going to go knock on some strangers door and have a conversation with them. It's not how it goes!"

"Bu-" she cut me off.

"No ifs, ands, or buts! Go see if you can find any juniors that will go to school with you!" she said pushing me out the door.

"Fine! Which house do I go to first?" I rolled my eyes.

"The one directly across from ours." and with that said she shut the door and locked me out.

It's about mid-summer and this is my first time ever in New Jersey so I guess it's going to be fun.

I looked both ways before crossing and I lightly jogged over to my neighbors. I made it to the front doorstep and looked down at my clothes. "Mom wouldn't have even let me put on some decent clothes." I thought since I was wearing sweatpants and a black flowy crop top. Their first impression of me wouldnt be so good.

"Eh...fuck it" I whispered as I rung the doorbell.
