Dumbfounded

"Let go of the knife, man."

Ron eases back on the knife to glare at Rock.

The blade is still two inches from my neck.

"Come on, man. Don't do this."

I stare, dumbfounded, at Rock.

Then the techie guy, Will, steps up behind him.

"Really, Ron? Pulling a blade on her isn't that smart."

The other guys start mumbling behind him, growing louder until I hear the black-haired guy from the warehouse, Ben, shout, "Go home, Ron, you're drunk, man!"

Ron grunts, looks at this complete mutiny of his men, and turns back towards me to give me a look of pure hate.

He staggers away from me, the knife still clutched in his giant hand.

Goes to stand in front of his gang, as if that will make them side with him.

When Rock, a muscled mass even taller than Ron, shakes his head, I can feel Ron's desperation.

He is losing control by the second.

Ron chuckles darkly.

"Ya'll are all gonna pay for this."

And at that, he sloppily turns on his heel and storms out of the warehouse.

He leaves us all with the worry of tomorrow and the pain of bravery.

A/N: Hope ya'll are enjoying the story so far! I know this chapter is short, but I wrote it to be just a follow-up to Shifted. Longer chapters and more Shae/Nick stuff is coming!
