Chapter 19:Family Bond

Genevieve- You ready?

Maria- I am.

Genevieve- This could go bad quick so try not to let your emotions get the best of you ok.

Maria- I know. Thank you for helping me. I know you think it's a bad idea.

Genevieve- I understand you have unanswered questions. You deserve to know, for the sake of you and your girls.

I grin lightly before signaling to her that I was ready. We both joined hands as I sat in a circle of salt.

We chanted together an incantation. So I could go to the spirit world and talk to the ancestors.

They probably won't be happy of me asking so many questions but it is worth a shot.

I feel myself in another room, I open my eyes and see I am in a dark room.

Maria- Hello? I am here to talk to the ancestors

Witch 1- We know why you are here, child.

Maria- I have so many questions.

Witch 2- Speak now, child. We have no time to waste.

Maria- You said to keep my daughter's from the Mikaelsons. But I don't understand why.

Witch 3- Do you not see, they are evil an abomination to nature.

Maria- I understand that the witches are against all vampires especially them but they know me. I can't imagine them ever hurting my family.

Witch 2- Don't be so naive,child. They have changed as you slept.

Witch 3- Have you no idea what their family are capable of? Silly child have you forgotten of what they did to your family already?

Maria- I have no idea what you are talking about.

The ancestors all look to each other before the third witch speaking up.

Witch 3- Have you not wondered what or who killed your brother?

Maria- I know it was a vampire but it couldn't be.

Witch 3- You're brother was killed by no other than the oldest Mikaelson, their father Mikael.

Maria- What?

Witch 2- I am sorry,child. This is the main reason, Mikael will stop at nothing to harm his family and yours if they knew you lived.

Witch 1- You're children are our salvation and their destruction.

Maria- I can't hurt them. I cannot let you use my girls as a weapon to kill them.

Witch 2- Its either your children or them.

Witch 3- Do not let your emotions cloud your judgement. Mikael is still out there, we could only do so much to protect them. Remain hidden and do not seek them out.

Maria- I have one more question, did they know? That their father killed my brother.

Witch 2- Yes they did, the youngest Kol witnessed it all. The rest knew only after.

I almost fell to my knees, i felt my feet come from up under me.

How could they all know and not say anything especially Kol. He saw him die.

Maria- How could they not tell me? They kept this from me.

Witch 3- Now you see child, they are no better than their father.

Witch 1- Now leave us.

With the wave of a hand, they sent me away and I returned back to the mortal world.

I tried to catch my breath as I sat up. Genevieve broke the circle and quickly helped me up.

Genevieve- What happened? What did they say?

Maria- I know why now they want to keep us away from the Mikaelsons.

Genevieve- Why?

Maria-  Their father Mikael. He killed my brother and if he know the girls are alive, he could kill them too.

Aidan- Are you insane? How could you keep this from me?

Maria- I had no other choice. I needed to know what they were keeping from me.

He groaned as he ran his fingers through his hair. He paced back and forth in our room as we argued about me going to the Spirit world.

Maria- Do you not trust that I know what I am doing?

Aidan- My love, I trust that you know what you are doing but I don't trust them.

Maria- Trust who?

Aidan- The ancestors, you heard them they want to use the girls as a weapon to kill them. They dont care about the girls.

Maria- I told them I refused to let them manipulate the girls.

Aidan- Well, you going there is not helping. You have to be careful because they could change their minds about protecting you and the girls if you keep asking too many questions.

Maria- I know you are worried. I am sorry I didnt tell you. I am just tired being left in the dark.

He walks up to me and rubs the sides of my arms.

I pull him into a tight hug and lightly sobbed as he held me close.

Maria- I can't believe he killed my brother. They knew and still looked into my eyes and lied. How could kol just stand there and do nothing?

Aidan- I am so sorry.

Maria- My poor brother, he didnt deserve any of this. It's because of me he is dead. If it wasn't for me being close to the Mikaelsons.

Aidan- M, do not blame yourself for the past. How could you have known who they were? You had nothing to do with this, ok.

Maria- I know, I am just so angry and feel so helpless. I am so angry that I could kill Kol right now.

Aidan- I know you don't mean that, you had feelings for them once. They still have a place in your heart.

I look back at him and sigh, knowing he was right. My feelings for them never faded.

Maria- I just wish Miguel was alive and to know what happened to Charles. Why does everyone I love leave me?

He wiped away my tears and pulled me close to him.
