I mean your family wasn't poor, in fact they were very very rich. To be specific, your great great grandfather had struck oil in mexico, and had managed to make a shit ton of money from it, but he had also invested that money in scientific research and such as that. He managed to build the (L/N) foundation off of that money, (cough cough, totally not speedwagon foundation, cough cough), anyways on to the story.
