8) Is it really an upgrade??

The song "I'm not in love" by 10cc, represent the denial and rejection that is about to occur between the three main characters.

Zorell POV

"What the fuck are yall doing" my body tensed up again and I quickly jumped out of Smith's arms and was staring at Parks.

"Look soldier, you need to calm down, it's no-" epic explained to calm Dominic.

"Don't say it's not what it looks like. I've seen and heard everything, so don't sit here and lie to my face" he said, getting louder and louder with every word that spat from his lips. I stood there like a deer in headlights, quiet was all I could be.

"Before I say anything I just want both of you to know, I never meant for this any of this to happen, its just that both of you were doing dumb things to me and then you kept coming at me and I-I " i tried to explain but I was only making myself look like the victim, a dumb one at that.

"Are you telling me that you've been secretly seeing both of us?" Eric asked through clenched teeth. I think I'm about to see him angry for the first time.

I-I'm so sorry, I-" before I could get it all out Eric walked away and then followed Dominic. I wanted to cry but the sun was coming up and training was about to start. So I sucked it up and got ready for the day.

"Sergeant Wilson, a word" I turned to see Lieutenant Brooks closing the gap between us in the hallway.

"Yes ma'am" I said, trying to sound okay but barely holding on.

"You okay?" she asked as she reached me, clearly seeing right through my facade.

"Yeah everythings fine, what do you need?" I said with a fake smile plastered on my face. She paused before speaking, watching my body language.

"You're being advanced to an agent that means that you will need to go get your credential, move to different barracks and go get a new uniform." she said shocking me but I guess I should be grateful, I don't have to face either of them ever again.

"Thank you for this opportunity"

"I stuck my neck for you so don't disappoint" she said about walking away but...
"What do you mean you stuck your neck out for me?" I just asked curiously.

"I mean Captain Smith wanted to hold you back, luckily I went over his head on this one I see potential in you" what she said actually made my day a little better.

"So head down stairs to get your stuff"

"Thank you so much. I really needed this today" I said being very grateful for the opportunity. She gave me a warm smile and walked away. I headed down stairs to get my credentials and ran right into Smith right before walking into the offices.

"Trainee what are doing down here" he said trying to embarrass me. Instead of giving my attitude back I just didn't make eye contact and said quietly "I'm not a trainee anymore, I'm an agent" I looked up to see his reaction. If he's anything like me he is good at hiding his emotions or he really just doesn't care.

"Good I don't have to see you everyday" I've become numb to his hurtful comments. I walked away fast and entered the office.

"Hey Zorell Wilson, right" A man that was sitting behind the desk in the office asked.

"Yes sir, that's me" I said with a fake smile. He handed me a badge with my rank and info on it.

"Your new uniforms are already in your new private room" he informed me.

"Thank you" I said and followed the directions the man gave me. I ended up in a long corridor with names by the room number. I saw Lieutenant Brooks' name on the room two doors down from mine. I walked past my room to see if Smith was on this floor. I saw his name on the other side of the hallway three doors down from my and five from Lieutenant Brooks. I walked back to my room and went inside. It's small but private so I'm happy. I got dressed and prepared myself for a mission debriefing.
