Translator's Notes:

- Italicized words are Lucas' thoughts.
- In the ebook set, the novel is not separated like this, but only with asterisks to mark a change of scenario. We took the liberty of dividing them based on subject matter and making up chapter names, but we did not change the order of events nor modified parts of it.

It was such a long time ago that he couldn't even remember when. Lucas was born into a fairly promising and prolific family. He was the second son and has an older brother of 2 years.

Lucas doesn't remember the first time his magical powers manifested, but he heard it was roughly around the time he learned how to walk. It was triggered when the toy he was playing with was taken away by his older brother. This made Lucas angry, and that anger caused a change in him.

He himself didn't even know what happened. He only vaguely remember that the people who came into the room later found his brother lying on the floor covered in blood and making a fuss.

After that, Lucas' parents just let him do whatever he wanted. But his residence was moved from the main house where his family stayed together, to another place.

"Why am I the only one staying at the annex?"

Then, when he was seven or eight years old, Lucas asked the nanny who went with him to the annex.

"Because Lucas is special."

As usual, the answer that came back was a conventional one.

"Huh."

Lucas thought the words he heard each time weren't really interesting.

He stared at the woman clearing the empty dishes before him and reached forward as she came closer. The nanny's hand flinched as Lucas held it for a moment. Then she immediately asked in a calm voice, "What's wrong? Do you need anything?"

Listening to her usual perfunctory voice, Lucas raised his eyes at the nanny with disinterest.

"No." He soon gave up her hand with brief retort.
