Chapter two

"I'm going to end you. Why can't you just fucking tell him?" Ren huffed out as he stared at his phone, he put it on speaker and listened to the ringing. Koa shrugged, "He's going to be your roommate, so you need to initiate the call." Ren snorted in response right before the ringing stopped and the voicemail came through.

"Aha!" Ren shouted at Koa as he hung up. "Now you can text him or whatever and talk to him instead of me." Ren stated. He threw his phone next to his spot on the floor and resumed the game he was previously playing. Koa groaned before texting Adam asking if he was still up to stay with Ren.

"If he agrees I'm going to be up your ass making sure you don't torture the guy." Koa warned as he sat next to Ren on the floor. Ren didn't break eye contact with his game, "Yeah yeah, as long as he's out of my way then i'll be out of his." Ren responded. "I'm serious Ren. I don't want you messing with him that much, I doubt you will because of his... choice of friend, but I know that just makes you despise him more." Koa cautiously replied, He knew Alec was a sensitive subject for Ren.

Ren shrugged, his eyes still glued to the screen. "If you're so worried I'm gonna traumatize the guy then why'd you suggest the idea in the first damn place." Ren snapped. Koa shook his head and ignored him, he laid down and stared at the ceiling. "Have you called your mom?" Koa asked, changing the subject.

Ren paused the game and looked over at his friend, "I tried to call this morning but I didn't get an answer.. She's probably visiting Ximena. I left a voicemail, so that she can call me back whenever she can. Ximena got transferred to a different hospital so she was supposed to give me that number today." He replied.

"I'm sure everything is fine, Can you not call the old Hospital and have them give you the number?" Koa turned to his side to face Ren. "Maybe, I'll do that if Mom doesn't call back soon." Ren replied, he shook his head. He needed to see Ximena soon. Koa's phone pinged, he sat up and checked his phone. It was Adam. "Adam said he is up for it if you are, I'm thinking if he's free we should meet up somewhere and talk about this in person, that way you two can really see if you are down for it." Koa told Ren who sighed in response.

"Yeah whatever, see if he's free. We are not going to the shop though, I can barely stand working there."

Koa asked Adam and quickly got a response, "He's free, he just got off his shift. Do you want to go somewhere or do you just want to invite him here?" Koa asked, still looking at his phone. "Doesn't matter to me. You're doing the cooking if he meets us here." Ren relplied, his voice stripped of any emotion. Koa rolled his eyes, "It'd be best to meet here... fine i'll cook."

Koa messaged Adam and sent the address before getting up to find something to cook. "Spaghetti it is, since someone always waits till the last minute to buy groceries." Koa said as he pulled out a box of noodles. Ren smirked, "You're lucky I even have that. I'm pretty sure that's the box you bought a few weeks ago when Marc, you and I were going to have dinner together. Oh and there's sauce in the bottom cabinet." Ren said as he turned off his game and stood up. Koa grunted in response and began to pull out a pot.

Ren sighed and decided to pick up a bit around the apartment, it wasn't dirty. Ren never let it get dirty, but it did have a bit of clutter here and there. He began to move things around and try to organize. He didn't particularly care if the place looked nice to Adam but he didn't feel comfortable with the clutter as is and Adam coming over gave him the excuse to clean a bit.

"When's he supposed to be over?" Ren asked as he picked a few books off of the dining table. He moved them to the bookcase and nodded to himself in approval. Koa set a lid on the pan with sauce to allow it to simmer, "He works at Waffle Palace and that's about 25 minutes from here, I don't know if he's coming straight here or if he's going to stop and change." Koa answered. Ren gave a slight nod before returning to cleaning.
