I sat by the lake at twilight, watching in amazement at the colour of the sky, realizing at that very moment how small and insignificant my troubles really were. In the grand scheme of things, I was merely a speck, a fraction of a speck, really. In comparison to the vastness of the universe how important was my survival? Would my absence affect the soil of the earth, or the clouds in the sky? Only to the extent that once I was gone, I'd return to nature, my remains at one with the earth. But maybe that was it. Maybe that was the reason not to leave, wasn't it? Because there was more I had to contribute in life, far bigger than anything I could contribute in death. And there, with my toes dipping into the cool water trickling onto shore, was when I knew. I had to keep going.
