Natalie's Point of View
"Hey nerd! where you headed?" I hear Jace yell down the hall. Great. I really don't want to deal with him today. I keep walking and hope he'll just leave me alone. it's Friday and I just want to get home.
I don't have the best reputation here at school. I'm frequently called nerd and pushed around by Jace and his 'crew'. I don't dress like the other girls here. my attire consists of faded (and not in the good way) jeans, old sketchers, and t-shirts. my hair is always in a low ponytail, and I have bulky glasses on.
But at my friend Jesse's house on the other side of town, I'm completely different. leather jacket, combat boots, bright red lipstick, contacts. you get the idea.
Why am I not like that here? simple. I don't want my grades to go down. I figure if I start dressing like that, more people will want to get to know me, and I won't be as committed to my schoolwork. after graduation in June, though, I'm changing from my nerd-self to how I am at Jesse's.
"Hey nerd, are you deaf too? I know you can hear me!" I hear the arrogant narcissist say behind me. At Least I'm finally at my car now. I get in and turn the key, backing out of the parking lot.

"Mom, I'm home!" I yell as I walk in the house, slamming the door. I drop my bookbag by the door and go upstairs to change and go to Jesse's.
first thing's first, clothes. I put on dark, ripped skinny jeans and a red crop top with gold sequins. Then, my signature leather jacket. I take my phone out and check the time. 3:45. I'm supposed to be at Jesse's by now. I quickly take off my glasses and put in my contacts, slip the elastic out of my hair, replacing it with a black beanie. I put on my red lipstick and my combat boots, grabbing the keys to my motorcycle and heading out the door.

"hey, about time you showed up." Jesse says, a smirk eminent on his face. I flip him off, grabbing the other Xbox controller out of his hand. We play call of duty for a while, and then he shuts off the TV.
"what the hell Jesse! I was about to win!" I say, throwing the controller down on the table. He flinches as the controller breaks on the table. It isn't the first time I've done that though.
"I have to tell you something. it's actually serious and I Need you to promise me you won't punch a hole in the wall or my face when I tell you." he says. I nod.
"Jace is coming over tonight with the rest of his 'crew'. but the rest of us are coming too."
By us, he means our other friends, Connor, Jenn, Tyler, and Austin.
"Why the hell is Jace coming here?!" I ask him. he knows the history behind me and Jace. even though I know he won't recognize me, I can't help but wonder why he's coming.
"He's friends with Adam. apparently they met at some college party. Adam supplied the beer so of course Jace practically jumped on him." Adam is Jesse's brother.
great. this should be interesting.

"wait.. what should I say my name is?" I ask My friends. they're the only ones who have arrived. since jace knows my name, (I mean... I think? he usually just calls me nerd but) I have to go by a different name."Just use a different last name. like Jones or something simple like that." My friend Jenn says. I nod just as the doorbell rings. Jace gets up and walks up the stairs to go get the door since Adam isn't home yet. I start bouncing my leg up and down because I'm so nervous that Jace will recognise me.
"Natalie calm down. he won't recognise you because of how differently you're dressed. seriously it'll be fine and if he does recognise you we're all here." Connor says. he's always been the friend with the most calming advice.
"thanks, Con. I'll try." I say, giving him a slight smile. just then, Jace comes walking down the stairs, followed by what I think is three sets of footsteps. here goes nothing.

Author's note:
ahh I'm sorry this was so short😬. I wanted to make sure at least a few people would read it though before I get too into it. this is sort of inspired by myself because of how different I dress and act outside of school. but I'll write the next chapter once I get 10 reads on this one so make sure to tell your friends & vote if you enjoy!
