Harry woke up, looking around, already aware that Hermione was once again lying in his arms. As he noticed the room's cleanness, Harry's memories returned, and he was reminded of Ron's outburst, which was not much different from his own. He frowned as it came to mind, but turned his attention back to Hermione laying on him. Harry stifled a laugh as he noticed that her skirt had gone up a bit, though not far. He pressed his face into her messy hair, breathing in the vanilla scent in which he loved so much.
"Are you sniffing my hair?"
"Maybe."
She sighed. "Why are you sniffing my hair?"
"It smells good."
Hermione laughed. She sat up, followed by Harry, and they rested their backs against the pillows. Hermione realized how her skirt had slightly lifted, and turned to Harry, a smirk on her face.
"Did you do this?" she asked, referring to her skirt.
"Nope. It was like that when I woke up," Harry grinned at her.
"Yeah right," Hermione laughed kissing his cheek. "Morning, by the way."
"Innocent until proven guilty," Harry said in a sing-song voice. "And morning to you, as well." Harry gave her a peck, and proceeded to get up.
"Hey! Where do you think you're going?" Hermione called out at him.
"Sorry, but I'd fancy an actual breakfast this morning," Harry said, giving her a lopsided smile. Hermione stuck her tongue out at him. He took her by the waist and hoisted her off the bed. Harry placed her on the ground, standing upright.
"Ugh. Can't you bring me breakfast in bed, like an amazing boyfriend would do?" Hermione groaned.
"Nope. Then I have to eat breakfast alone," Harry said, pouting.
"Harry," Hermione groaned again. She picked up a pillow that laid on the bed and chucked it at him.
"Oi!" Harry called out. He picked up the same pillow and took another off the bed. Harry suddenly pelted her with both pillows, and Hermione was knocked over from the force. Harry picked up one more pillow and threw it at her as she still laid across the floor.
Harry stood back, grinned, and watched with interest as Hermione slowly got up from underneath the pillows with a murderous look in her eyes.
"I'm going to kill you, Potter!" she yelled as Harry went rushing down the stairs and into the common room. Hermione grabbed as many pillows as possible and went running after him.
When she got into the common room, she dropped the pillows at her feet, picked one up, and looked at Harry across the room, ready to strike. Harry gave a brief smile as he dodged the first pillow thrown at him. Harry ran in circles around the room, dodging every pillow that came speeding toward him. Finally, as Harry came running near her, she jumped him, knocking Harry to the ground with her on top of him.
Hermione smiled. "Got you," she murmured as she kissed the tip of his nose.
Harry flipped her over so that he was now on top of her. He lowered his mouth and gave her a soft, longing kiss, slipping his tongue in her mouth along with it. Harry wore his famous Potter grin. "Actually, I believe I got you," he murmured against her lips.
"Thank god. I didn't think I could go another minute without you kissing me," Hermione joked.
"I know. I'm absolutely irresistible. Now, I believe we were going down for breakfast," Harry said, and they proceeded to the Great Hall.
As they took their usual seats at the Gryffindor table, Harry and Hermione weren't surprised to find Ron sitting at the other end of the table talking to Seamus Finnigan. Hermione couldn't help but notice Ginny, who was sitting near Ron, and how she would glance at her repeatedly. She reckoned it was just a bit of jealousy, since she still hasn't talked to Ginny all week, and wasn't planning to. Harry grabbed her hand underneath the table, pulling her out of her thoughts. They looked into each other's eyes, having a silent conversation, and they both agreed to go back to the common room. The couple got up and after a couple minutes of going through corridors, walked into the common room. Harry sat on the armchair, and Hermione went beside him. They took their usual position, Hermione leaning into him, Harry's arm wrapped around her. Since they already revealed their relationship to their best friend, neither saw any point of concealing it any longer. Harry and Hermione just sat there, enjoying the silence, not caring about the countless glances people in the common room were giving them.
"Hermione, can I talk to you?" a voice asked.
Hermione opened her eyes, revealing Ginny from behind them.
"Er, sure," Hermione said, a bit confused. Harry loosened his grip on Hermione, and she kissed his cheek, muttering, "I'll be back soon."
As Hermione got up, Harry rested his head back and threw his legs over the arm of the chair.
Hermione followed Ginny as she led her up to their dormitory. When they made it into the room, the two girls sat on their own beds.
"So, where've you been sleeping for the past three nights?" Ginny started. "Some of us have noticed Harry has been gone as well."
"Well, I assume you know that Harry was in the hospital wing two nights ago, so I decided to stay with him. As for the other two nights, the two of us slept in the Room of Requirement. One of those nights, we didn't intend on falling asleep, and the other we were too tired to come back up to our dormitories. I assure you we didn't do anything. I wonder why you would need to know all this?" Hermione asked suspiciously.
Ginny looked Hermione over for a few seconds. Finally, she sighed.
"Hermione, I wanted to apologize. I know it wasn't fair of me to get mad at you like that over your relationship, and I should've been happy for you. I was caught up in a school girl crush and I wanted you to know that all the things I said to offend you were not meant, but they just came out in the moment. I hope we can be friends again, if you'll forgive me," Ginny finished.
"Of course," Hermione said, smiling. "Where would I end up without my best friend?"
"Great. So...how's Harry?" Ginny grinned at her.
"Amazing. We just told Ron about us yesterday, but now he's really angry at us. I'm not sure how Harry's truly taking it, though," Hermione explained.
"I'll knock some sense into him over break. Speaking of break, what's Harry doing?" Ginny wondered.
"Oh, he's coming to my house. We wanted to spend Christmas together as a couple," Hermione explained once again.
"Do your parents know? About the relationship, I mean," Ginny questioned.
"No. But I reckon my mum has an idea. We're waiting so my dad can meet Harry without killing him first. I thought if he meets Harry as my friend, dad'll get to know him better, so when we tell him, he won't really be against our relationship. I'm hoping it works," Hermione told her.
"I'm sure Harry will win your mum over just with his charming smile," Ginny laughed. "And have him just talk about quidditch with your dad, and there. They'll both let you get married tomorrow."
Hermione snorted. "Yeah right."
Ginny laughed once again.
"Well, I believe your boyfriend is awaiting you downstairs. I won't take away your precious time," Ginny joked.
"Oh, come on you," Hermione sighed, dragging her friend out of the room.
In the common room, Harry was talking to Neville along the same lines. The two friends were talking about how they were spending their holiday break. Hermione and Ginny came down just as they were ending their own conversation.
"I'll see you around, mate," Neville said after glancing up and seeing Hermione.
Harry gave Neville a small wave, then watched as Hermione came wandering over with Ginny.
"You going to make room?" Hermione asked Harry, for he still had his legs swung over the arm of the chair.
Harry shrugged. Hermione flicked the side of his head.
"Alright, alright," Harry gave in, moving over to give Hermione space to sit. They took, once again, their usual position with Harry's arm around Hermione, and Hermione's head on his shoulder.
"You two are cute," Ginny smiled.
Harry raised his eyebrows. "Cute? The other day it seemed like you were going to hex us both."
"She apologized for that upstairs. We're friends now," Hermione told him.
"Took you long enough. I was wondering why you two were up there for such a long time. Loads to apologize for," Harry said jokingly. Hermione elbowed him in the ribs.
"Ow. Do you want me to end up in the hospital wing again with broken ribs?" Harry groaned.
"Actually, yes. Then I have an excuse to be with you," Hermione said, sticking her tongue out at him.
"You never needed an excuse to be with me," Harry murmured, moving closer to her.
"If you two start snogging, I will hex you both. That's something I don't want to see," Ginny said aloud.
"Okay. We'll save that for later, sorry," Hermione told her sarcastically, glaring at her friend.
"Let's go down to Hagrid's. I fancy paying him a visit. Want to come, Ginny?" Harry asked.
"No thanks. I have loads of homework that I need to start. I'll see you two later," Ginny said, waving.
"Bye," they chorused back, heading out of the castle. Upon seeing Hagrid's hut, Harry began to run down the path to the small house, dragging Hermione with him. When they got there, Harry knocked, and Hagrid answered.
"Come in, you two," he called them inside. "No Ron today?"
"We got in an argument with him," Harry explained.
"What about?" Hagrid asked as he went through his cabinets.
"Harry and I got together. As a couple, I mean. And Ron wasn't entirely happy about it," Hermione took over.
"About time, you two," Hagrid said, laughing. "Thought it'd never happen."
"What?" they asked in unison.
"It's been obvious to almost everyone that you two would end up together. Well, obvious to everyone but you two," Hagrid smiled at them.
"So, right under our noses, people have been saying how we'd make a great couple? I feel deaf now," Hermione said, saddened she hadn't seen it before.
"Forget deaf, I feel blind! Everyone else, who don't know us at all, they all see that we would end up together? I know I have glasses, but that doesn't mean I can't see at all!" Harry exclaimed.
Hermione just rolled her eyes.
"How long have you been together?" Hagrid wondered.
"Er, seven days now," Hermione informed him.
"Don't worry about Ron. He'll come around," Hagrid reassured them.
"Right. Well, we should get going Hagrid. Thanks for the tea," Harry said, indicating the now-empty cups that Hagrid had given them not long ago.
"No problem. Visit again soon. I haven't been seeing enough of you two these days," Hagrid told them.
"We'll be back before long. Bye Hagrid!" Hermione called out, waving back at him.
About an hour later, back up at the castle, Harry and Hermione were having an argument.
"Hermione, it's a Saturday! We don't have to do homework! We have they whole break to finish it!"
"Well, I'd rather spend my break relaxing, not working on my potions essay!"
The two of them were back in the Room of Requirement, along with Luna, Ginny, and Neville. The room, once again, formed an exact replica of the Gryffindor common room.
"Will you two just shut up already?" Ginny called out from across the room.
"Stay out of this!" both shouted back.
"Well, I'm going flying. I'll see you three later," Harry said, only acknowledging Neville, Luna, and Ginny, who stood across the room.
"Bye," they each called back.
Once Harry left, Hermione slumped back in her chair.
"Why does he have to be so frustrating?" Hermione complained.
"You were pretty hard on him. I reckon he's kinda tense lately," Neville said.
"Yeah, well, without Ron, his thoughts go back to Sirius, and..." Hermione trailed off, eyes widening. "Oh, Merlin."
Hermione quickly packed all her stuff together, and headed to the door.
"Got to go. I'll see you three later. Bye!" she called before rushing out the door.
Hermione instantly ran for the quidditch pitch, knowing Harry would be zooming around there somewhere.
She noticed him flying near the opposite goal posts. As fast as she could, Hermione sped in the area that Harry was occupying, and stopped only a couple yards away.
"Harry!" Hermione yelled, trying to get him to come down. "Harry!"
Harry stopped flying, and looked down to find Hermione staring up at him. He swiftly flew to the ground, getting off his broom a couple feet from her.
Hermione subtly walked toward him. When they were only inches apart, Hermione grabbed Harry's hand, interlacing her fingers with his. Harry looked at her with a puzzled look, asking her a question with his eyes.
"I'm sorry Harry. I didn't realize that you're now focused back on Sirius. I should be helping you get him out of your mind, not getting on your nerves," Hermione pleaded with him.
"Hermione, you weren't getting on my nerves. It's just...I don't know. I'm just on edge because I don't have Ron to distract me from thinking of him. I'm sorry I ran out on you. I know you're trying to do it for the best," Harry told her appreciatively. "I mean, who else is going to keep me in place?" Harry joked.
Hermione smiled. "Let's go put your broom away."
"Hey, who said I was done flying!" Harry called out as she dragged him to the broom shed.
"I did! Now let's go!" Hermione laughed.
Harry pouted, but allowed himself to be dragged by Hermione.
When they got back into the castle, Hermione said they were going back to the Room of Requirement.
"Homework?" Harry groaned.
"I'll let you copy mine," Hermione bribed him, winking.
"Brilliant," Harry said, grinning.
As they opened the door, they more so heard than saw their three friends blasting places all over the walls.
"Er, hi," Harry started, not knowing what to say.
"Oh, hi Harry, Hermione," Luna greeted. "We were just trying to get rid of this fly. It's really a wrackspurt."
"Right," Harry said, disbelieving.
Ginny took one look at their entangled hands. She smirked. "And that's how you know they've forgiven each other," Ginny joked, pointing to the couple, who were staring into each other's eyes.
Harry and Hermione just smiled.
The rest of the day mostly passed in a blur. After staying in the Room of Requirement all day, the five of them had went down to the Great Hall for dinner, where Luna had to go off to the Ravenclaw table.
Neville and Ginny sat with Harry and Hermione today, for Ron was continuing to ignore them, and was sitting at the other end of the Gryffindor table. Instead of Harry and Hermione receiving all the glares, Ron happened to direct some of them at Ginny as well.
When they finished eating, the four of them proceeded up to the common room. Harry convinced Hermione to stay with him in the boys' dormitory. Ginny went up to her own room, and Hermione went with her, so she could get her pajamas on. Neville went up to their dorm as Harry promised to wait for Hermione in the common room.
Upstairs, Hermione threw on some shorts and Harry's quidditch shirt. She ran down the stairs only to find Harry waiting for her. He scanned her up and down and grinned.
"You look cute in my shirt," Harry whispered to her, dragging her up the stairs to his dormitory.
The quidditch shirt Hermione was wearing was a bit big, so it dropped to her mid-thighs. The shorts she wore underneath were hardly noticeable.
When they made it to the room, Neville was sitting on his own bed, watching the door. Harry asked him to make sure no one else came up before he brought up Hermione.
"Thanks Neville," Harry said. Neville gave him a curt nod in return.
Harry brought Hermione over to his bed, and shut the hangings. He muttered a silence spell, and another spell that wouldn't allow anyone to open the hangings. They both got in the bed, Harry's arms wrapped around her waist and his chin rested on the top of her head.
"You really are cute in my quidditch shirt," Harry muttered, running the fabric between his two fingers.
"And you're cute all the time," Hermione muttered back, turning around to take off his glasses. She gave him a light kiss before placing his glasses on the nightstand.
Harry traced the 'POTTER' on the back of Hermione's shirt, kissed the small of her back, and whispered, "Love you, Mione."
"I love you too, Harry," Hermione whispered back, snuggling into his body.
