doyoung sighed, annoyed as he couldn't find where his favorite chocolate was. the supermarket had done a couple of renovations, including rearranging the shelves where the supplies was, and putting them into new aisles.

hence, doyoung had been circling the grocery store for about thirty minutes now, trying to find hershey's kisses.

it was their sixth week into classes and doyoung didn't have an afternoon schedule because his professor attended a seminar outside the city. and naturally, kun seized the opportunity to send doyoung to get their grocery supplies, seeing as that they're getting low on it.

it was okay with doyoung, since most of the time, it was kun who does their groceries. and even if they split the bill, doyoung didn't want to dump all the chores to his roommate.

but what wasn't okay was the fact that the grocery store had done rearrangements with their shelves and he couldn't spot at least one of their staffs to help their confused customers to the new settings. like him.

he was already done with the essential supplies kun had listed for him since they were all easy to find and would've lined for the cashier already, but he still didn't have his sweets. and so he continued to wheel his cart around, searching high and low for that chocolate brown and silver packaging of his favorite chocolate.

he was on the aisle where confectioneries and baking ingredients were, when alas, he finally found it. but it was the only one left and it's on the farthest corner of the top shelf.

he stood on his tiptoes and stretched his arms, but he still couldn't reach it. he cursed whoever put it there and why they hadn't restocked, yet.

"here, let me help you," a hand shot up behind him and picked the bag of kisses without breaking a sweat.

doyoung quickly turned around to see who the hand belongs to.

and wasn't that surprised to see the man that accompanied him through the whole time they sat at jaehyun's plant box, engulfed in silence as they smoke while he waited for ten, the night of the party three weeks ago.

he immediately recognized the deep timbre of the voice that belonged to the stranger who approached him on that alley. the man who always gave him an unsettling feeling in his stomach whenever they met, but he always set it aside for reasons he, himself, didn't know nor did want to know.

"mr. johnny seo,"

"mr. doyoung seo,"

doyoung glared at the tall man who was smiling down at him, "i told you not to call me names."

"but it is your name," johnny smirked, "and-" he prolonged the word as he dangled the bag of chocolates in front of doyoung, "don't punch me, i have your precious kisses hostaged."

doyoung rolled his eyes, "what are you? six?" he held out his hand to johnny, "give me that."

johnny didn't answer him and instead held his hand and proceeded to drag him.

"what the fuck, johnny where are you taking me?" he immediately pulled his cart along him as johnny lead him through the counter.

"i'm also taking you hostage,"

doyoung didn't know what happened.

one minute, he was lost in the grocery store trying to find what was where.

and now, he found himself sat in a pastel blue seat with a bubble tea and a plate of strawberry cheese cake on the table. seated in front of him was the man who'd 'held him hostaged', a cup of coffee on his hand. they were in a cafe near their campus.

"you could've just asked," doyoung started, pertaining on how the taller boy dragged him to the counter, carried his grocery bags, pushed him inside his jeep, and dragged him again when they arrived at the cafe they were seated now. he could've just asked doyoung instead of going through all that.

"but where's the fun in that?" johnny took a sip of his coffee and raised a brow.

doyoung shrugged, "in my answer."

silence.

doyoung glanced at the boy who was staring intensely at him. he cocked a brow.

"is there a problem on my face, mr. seo?"

"yeah, it's so handsome, it makes my heart hurts," johnny winked at him and doyoung furrowed his brows.

"you should have that checked up," doyoung seriously said.

"then can you check me up, doc?" johnny gave him a toothy smile.

doyoung shook his head. his best friend was a big flirt contrary to his height, and he'd seen ten done it thousandths of times before. and he knew that's what was johnny doing right now, what he don't know, though, was why.

"seriously, mr. seo, why did you drag me here?"

"to get to know you,"

"why?"

"because..." johnny trailed, "just because." he didn't know how to answer it, yet.

doyoung tilted his head slightly at johnny's answer.

"and can you please drop mr. seo, it sounds so formal. just call me johnny," he placed down his coffee, "or yours, for both our pleasure."

of course, he'd add something like that. doyoung rolled his eyes, again. it was something he'd done a lot whenever he's with his best friend, but it seemed like he'd done double of it when he's with the man in front of him.

"taste your own medicine, i guess," doyoung took a bite of his strawberry cheese cake, "damn, this is good."

"can i have some?" johnny asked him instead, motioning towards his plate, "i'd never tried that before."

"are you sure? i thought you don't like anything strawberry-flavored," doyoung nonchalantly asked.

"who told you? i only don't like strawberry cigarettes," johnny then took a spoonful of doyoung's treats. but he choked with it when he realized what he said.

"knew it," doyoung exclaimed, then pushed a cup of water towards johnny. he remembered the short verbatim they had when they first met. he shook his head and tried to comprehend why would the man in front of him would lie.

"what gave me away?" finally calmed down, johnny wiped the side of his lips, face red from both the coughing fit and the embarrassment he felt when doyoung caught onto his lie.

he just only wanted to start a small talk with the cute stranger.

"you always smell of mint," doyoung started, he placed his left hand on the table and raised his pinkie finger, counting. something johnny found cute, again. "your cigarettes were mint, and you slightly flinched when you took your first drag that night." doyoung listed off his observation that brought him to conclude that indeed, johnny didn't like his choice of cigarette.

johnny was surprised with the bunny-looking boy's observation.

"yeah, well, i prefer mint over anything else, honestly,"

"hmm, figures. now if you won't mind, mr. seo, i need to get going because my roommate will be back in half an hour and he would need all those ingredients for our dinner," doyoung stood, signalling for johnny to stand up as well, since the former's grocery bags were placed in his jeep.

"i could drive you back," johnny offered once they got to his car. doyoung shook his head, no.

"my dorm's just acrossed the street," doyoung grabbed his bags, waved at johnny, and walked ahead.

"and thanks for the treat, johnny!" doyoung turned his head last minute to say his gratitude to the taller before crossing the streets.

johnny could only smile at how spontaneous everything that happened was.
