doyoung woke up with a start.

his alarm blared obnoxiously loud inside his shared dorm and triggered a skull-splitting headache.

startled, he immediately stood up from his bed, the action worsening the pounding on his head. he cursed.

he looked at his phone that was plugged since last night to check the time. and he released yet another string of colorful expletives. it's 7:03 am. his first class would start at 7:45.

he rushed to their bathroom and almost tripped on kun's feet on his way there. the chinese was laying on the floor after ten made the latter's bed his territory, last night.

last night.

he harshly opened the toothpaste cap as he recalled the events last night.

it was a sunday night. and like every good student on a night before class, kun was reading his biology book, reviewing, while doyoung was on his laptop, doing a last minute touch-up for his report on his first class the next day. their dorm room was quiet. the occasional flipping of pages and the typing on the keyboard were the only sounds that signalled the people inside weren't on the dreamland, yet.

the silence was something the roommates were both grateful of, from each other. seeing as that they enjoy the quiet and peace while they do their own business.

the silence that was broken by a loud pounding on their door, pulling both boys from their academe-trance.

doyoung looked at the time and furrowed his eyebrows when he saw that it was already past 10.

"are you expecting someone?" he asked kun who put down the thick book he was reading as he stood up.

"nope," the older replied and made his way to the door to open it.

"good evening, people!" the cheery voice that doyoung immediately recognized as ten's, said, as he sauntered inside. a bottle of whiskey in his right hand and three stacks of red cups on the left.

the next thing he knew, the three of them were in a circle doing shots as if it wasn't monday on the morrow. drunk complaints about their studies and their terrorizing experiences with their professors were passed between each other. and before they knew it, they already finished the bottle and it was already past twelve. they called it a night and ten quickly dived on kun's bed, and claimed it as if it's his own. it left the older of the three of them to shook his head and picked an extra blanket so he could lie on the floor.
doyoung was too drunk to care as he laid down his bed, eyes promptly closing as his head touched his soft pillows. fully knowing that he would regret his decision to give in on ten's persuasion, first thing in the morning.

and regret he did.

he unceremoniously threw a graphic t-shirt on and carelessly combed his hair with his finger. he put on his glasses since he had no time left for putting his contacts seeing that the time was already 7:20. the walk to his department building will take 20 minutes from his dorm, 15 if he run.

he picked up his black book bag, laptop, phone, and keys, and took off. he slammed the door shut not caring if it would wake the other two up, and took down the stairs two at a time. once he got out the building, he sprinted in the direction of his first class. he mindlessly threw apologies to the people he bumped into. he didn't care if they would get mad, the only thing he only cared about was that he could get in his human anatomy class before his professor and set up his report.

"ow! hey, watch where you're going!" a deep voice exclaimed, clearly annoyed. doyoung didn't looked up to see who it was and just picked up the black book bag on his feet, the person he bumped into doing the same with his.

"i'm sorry, but i really need to go," he said once he had the book bag in his hands and ran inside the lecture hall building.

he was glad that it was on the first floor.

he slammed the door open, panting hard. it gained the attention of his fellow medical students but he paid no mind and quickly set up his laptop and connected it to the projector.

only when he saw the screen display his powerpoint did he sighed in relief.

jaehyun slammed his book bag, or what he thought was his, on the table. startling two of his friends who was busy with their lunch.

"the fuck, jae?!" the blue-haired male exclaimed, eyes wide. his heart beat shot up from his shock and he stared daggers at the culprit.

said culprit raised his hands in mock surrender, "sorry, tae. i was mad."

"why?" the third male asked as he twirled his pasta on his fork.

"i bumped to someone early this morning and my book bag fell," jaehyun trailed his eyes to the book bag on the table, the other boys did the same.

"let me guess, they dropped theirs, too, and you guys accidentally exchanged your book bags?" the blue-haired, taeyong, said as he raised a slitted eyebrow. confident that what he said was what actually what happened.

"yeah," jaehyun sighed, now that he realized the book bag wasn't his, he noticed the difference of the two. the book bag he picked up was much heavier than his own, obviously containing thicker books. and he didn't own a book whose page exceeded 350. it also had a name embroidered on the bottom of it. it wasn't easily seen as it was too small and the thread used was also black.

"that was so cliché," the third male commented and jaehyun rolled his eyes.

"cliché because it always happens in real life, john," taeyong turned to the person sat beside him.

"yeah, whatever," johnny turned to jaehyun, "do you know who that belongs to?"

jaehyun picked it up and turned the bottom of it to his friends, showing them the name embroidered.

"kim d.y.," taeyong read as he and johnny squinted to read the tiny letters.

"this is korea, man. there's a lot of people whose name and initials are kim d.y.," johnny leaned back in his seat, "open it to see if there's more helpful info about the owner inside."

jaehyun did as what he was told. inside were three thick books in biology, physics, and human anatomy. and a thinner one which was a sketchbook. he pulled the latter out.

"seems like our guy is a med student," taeyong commented as he peeked inside.

jaehyun shrugged at taeyong and admired the front cover of the sketchbook. the plain white cover was filled with inked intricate designs and caricatures. as he was about to open it, two hands slammed down their table, startling all three of them, this time.

"seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you people and scaring the shit out of me?!" taeyong shrieked.
