Fingers posed over the keyboard, I waited for the login screen of my iMac to load. The light blue image appeared as I quickly typed in the information needed. The acceptance ring sounded lightly as I stood up and headed to the side kitchen.
Making two cups of coffee, and grabbing my homemade blueberry muffins before heading towards Mr. Mason's office.
I smiled at fellow workers on my way, a cheerful mode surrounding me like normal. That is until I got to his office. Slowly opening the door, I stood shocked as I watched Mr. Mason slumped figure against his desk.
The tray slipped from my fingers as I rushed over to him. "Oh my god. Mr. Mason, are you okay?!?!" I planted my voice rough due to fright and worry.
"I'm leaving" he muttered avoiding eye contact. Shaking me away, he grabbed his suitcase and walked to the door.
"One day, you'll forgive me" he said before walking out the door and out of my life.
'Forgive him for what' I thought as I saw the ruffled papers on his desk.
My hands grasped them immediately, my eyes skimming the page.
Words like bank fraud, fifteen years, and federal crime gave me the answer to why he was leaving.
All this time he had been lying to the government and to the company. Hundreds depended on their jobs here and we were all going to lose them.
The phone at my desk soon began to ring. Hurriedly, I speed to my desk and picked it up.
"M. Tech. Incorporation, Aurora Steele speaking" I spoke, my heart pounding within my chest. Shock evident in my eyes.
"Put me through to Mr. Mason" a hard voice filled with anger said immediately as I pulled the phone away and starred at it.
"Hello, are the words I say to incompétent for your punny brain to understand" he shouted causing me to snap out of my trance.
"I'm sorry sir, but Mr. Mason is not here" I replied calmly trying to handle his rude behavior. It is what I am trained to do after all.
"I don't care if he's there or not. Find him and put him on the phone, you idiot!"
'Who the hell does he think he is" I thought as my fist clenched around the phone.
"Look sir, it may be an incoincident. But Mr. Mason is not here."
"You be--" he started but I cut him off, knowing he would say something in term to insult me.
"Look here, I do not take kindly to your words sir. Mr. Mason has left the building. I do not know when or if he will ever return. Now if you will excuse me, I have better things to do then deal with a complete asshole. Good day!" I shouted into the phone, slamming it into its place.
My blood boiled within my viens while I took deep breathes to try and calm my nerves. "Who the hell does he think he is" I muttered to myself as I sat at my desk and began to call Mr. Mason.
After several unsuccesful attempts, I gave up. I could feel the dull ache in the back of my head and I knew a headache was within reach. Leaning in my chair, I began to rub my temples as my eyes closed on their own accord. A sign left my mouth, the pressure being to subside when my office door was suddenly flung open. Shooting forward, I looked at the tall man standing in the doorway seething with anger. He was handsome beyond all belief and wore a simple black suit across taunt muscles.
"Where. Is. Mr. Mason" he spoke through gritted teeth as I took on the look of confidence.
"I have no idea. Now who are you" I asked, a glint of annoyance passed through his eyes as he obviously expected me to already know. "Kale Matthews, now can you do your job and find him before I have you fired!"
'Oh hell no' my mind yelled, my fist clenched at myside in hopes of refraining myself from punch this man in the face.
"Listen here, I have already told you. I do not know where he is nor am I able to reach him. I am fed up with you talking down to me and I am asking you to leave voluntarily or you will be escorted from the building Mr. Matthews" I spoke, satisfied when I saw shock cover his face.
I walked with grace to my desk and sat down. Trying to ignore the man as he came to step infront of my desk.
"Mr. Mason supposedly left papers on his desk for me. May I have them please" he asked as I looked up into his eyes a pleading pout position across his lip.
Batting my eyes flirtatiously, I plasted a sickly sweet smile on my face. "Sure sweetheart, just let me get them." I spoke smoothly.
Scouping the papers into my hands I threw then at his face. I smiled in satisfaction as he locked in jaw in order to refrain from speaking.
"Now leave" I commanded. I watched in fascination at the muscles that streaked as he bent down to retrieve the papers. Turning he walked out my office but not without slamming the door causing the walls to quake from the impact.
That went well...
