Asking any normal person on a date was easy but, Akaashi wasn't normal, and Bokuto knew that. From his curly hair that looked so soft to the touch to his hands, that Kotarou knew were slightly larger than his own, and his eyes. "Oh god his eyes" He thought to himself. Always half lidded and sleepy looking with that beautiful color that Bokuto still couldn't put a name to. Akaashi was perfectly abnormal in Bokuto's eyes, that's what made this hard. After much thought and consideration over the past week, he had decided he was going to ask Akaashi on a date. Well, for the most part, he decided he would do it, just not when or how. Kotarou's brain resembled that of a loading screen whenever Akaashi looked him in the eyes so, how he was ever going to ask him out was a mystery.
The day started off normal with everyone meeting at the station and talking about whatever program was on the night before. Bokuto however was not tuned in, he was thinking of all the ways he could ask Akaashi out. He thought of slipping a letter in his bag, but there was no guarantee he would see it. He thought of just asking him face to face, but if he had to look into Akaashi's eyes he might say something stupid. As Bokuto's thoughts of the pretty setter spiraled, his friends started to notice his unusually quiet demeanor.
"...to? Bokuto?!" Konoha shouted while waving his hand in front of Kotarou's face, "It's our stop, stupid."
Snapping out of his thoughts, Bokuto rushed out of the train barely making it off in time. "Sorry guys," he rubs the back on his neck nervously, "I was zoned out thinking of something else."
"Ah that's new Bokuto-San," Akaashi let out a small chuckle before continuing, "thinking, I mean."
The rest of the group burst into a laughing fit, praising Akaashi for his joke. Though, no one but Bokuto had seemed to notice the soft pink blush across the pretty boy's face. After the group had calmed down they started to make their way to the school, Bokuto still unable to forget the color and expression Akaashi's face had.
"Um, Bokuto-San?" Akaashi said softly, "Do I have something on my face?" In that very moment Kotarou realized he had been staring at him the entire time, "If this is about my comment earlier I'm sorry if I hurt your feeling I was just-"
"No!" Bokuto interjected, "I just thought that your expression was kind of cute..." He mumbled.
"What was that Bokuto-San?" Keiji cutely tilted his head as he asked.
Bokuto managed to stutter out, "Oh I just said that what you said was funny so don't worry about it!" before awkwardly chuckling and changing the subject.
The first half of the day went as normal as it could with Bokuto's panicky planning. He had figured out what to do: act like normal. He would just casually ask Akaashi to hang out and not make it seem like a date. Perfect date idea right? So with the confidence of a fool Bokuto went to Akaashi's classroom to start operation "Date-Me-Pretty-Boy", which was expertly named by Kuroo. Bokuto had learned a some things about Akaashi in the few weeks they had been friends, one being that he hated being the center of attention. Kotarou had never minded having eyes on him, he knew he attracted a lot of attention from his hair to is relatively large build and his loud personality. The boys had created a routine so that no one would think to look twice at them. They meet on the roof everyday at lunch, while they weren't completely alone it was less of a chance of having all eyes on them as opposed to being in Akaashi's crowded classroom. Almost like clockwork Bokuto opens the door to the roof to find the black haired boy sitting by himself in a shady corner, peacefully waiting for his friend to arrive. Against his better judgement Bokuto called out to Akaashi just as he does during practice, slightly slurring the k's in his excitement. The other boy acknowledged him by slightly waving and giving a small smile. They began to eat, Bokuto being unusually quiet the whole time.
Akaashi finally speaks up, "Is something on your mind Bokuto-San?"
"Huh? What? No! Not at all! Nothing is in my brain- ack- I mean on my mind!" Bokuto hurriedly spits out.
"Are you sure?" Keiji asks while chuckling. Bokuto could hear that laugh and watch that smile forever and never get bored.
"Your laugh is really pretty, did you know that?" Bokuto said thoughtlessly, not even realizing that Akaashi would hear it, let alone react to it. Imagine his surprise when that soft pink color he loved dusted across Akaashi's cheeks as he covered his face, obviously embarrassed. Kotarou realized he had nothing left to lose at this point, "Would you want to hang out with me this weekend?"
Keiji widened his eyes at the boys forwardness. He went to speak but then paused, softening his expression, "I would love to Bokuto-San, would you like my phone number so we can talk about it more?"
"Yes! Please!" Bokuto lights up. Not only had he successfully asked out Akaashi but he had also gained his phone number. The pair spent the rest of their lunch trying to plan out their weekend, Bokuto more ecstatic at every suggestion. They had finally come to a conclusion: a movie, lunch, and then they would stay the night at Bokuto's house. In the midst of his excitement, Bokuto forgot a crucial detail. How was he going to spend the night with Akaashi without imploding?~~~~
