The Run

Part one

My mum has always been sweet. that is until she met beck. Today was the first day back to school after the incident. we dont talk about it with anyone. not even the police. it's been hard without him. and mum, shes gotten worse since she started dating that alcoholic Beck. they both started drinking. something dad wouldnt have wanted. dad died almost 3 months ago, on a hunting trip, he got attacked by a bear and well, he didnt make it. His friend did though. he told all of us what had happened. I should've went with them.. well I'll write some more later, depending on what happens. thanks.

Carter closed his leather bound notebook and set it down on his bed. his life isn't as fun as most kids. his stepfather Beck isn't so nice. and hes starting to change Carters mum. they both drink. constantly. Carters never had much luck with school or friends, all though he did have one. the only friend hes had for 2 years now. Liam. they've always been close, and carter likes to go to his house to escape his mum. this weekend Carter was going to the fair with Liam, someplace Carter finds peace, other than with Liam. Carter was excited, more so he doesnt have to be home for the weekend. After school Liam invited Carter over for dinner. anything to get away from his mother. Carter had a black eye from a fight he got at school. Liam's mum noticed and seemed to help right away. she knew about his home life so she was okay with him being over so often. she was always like a mother to Carter. Shes always been protective of her boys. Tonight they were going out to eat, it was Tuesday so they were going out for tacos, one of the things Liams mother loves doing. When they got there they got taken care of and sat down at their table. Laim and carter always sat next to eachother. they both have alot in common. they both suffer from body dysphoria. Luckily Liams mum is so supportive of them. shes even helping them save up money to get binders. after they ordered their food they started talking. Carter was explaining how his mum was getting worse, skipping work, drinking constantly, yelling alot. Liam's mother didnt like her much after she got with beck. he was always trouble when they were younger. but to Carter's mum, anything to get over dads death was good enough. something seemed off. the place was emptier than normal, it didnt seem to bother them. they were normal customers so of course they knew alot about the place, and how crowded it is on Tuesdays, but fortunately they had the place almost to themselves. maybe everyone just got tired of eating tacos on Tuesday? they'll never know. After they ate they packed up and headed back to the house, but on the way home, something changed in liams mother and they went for a ride, even though it's a school night. they went off to the beach, night swimming was always a comfort to liam, and the boys always enjoyed going there together. they all played in the water for about an hour. Carter thinks liams mum just doesnt want him to go home to his parents. but after and hour or two of swimming and star gazing they went back to the house. it was 12 pm now. They got to Carters house. Liams mum scoffed and pulled away. taking carter home with them. Carter felt a weight come off of his chest, he wanted to ask to stay there but he was to afraid to, afraid he'd get let down. but something changed when they got back to the house.
