When they got back to the house the lights were on and the door was flung open, when Liams mum walked inside they found Carters parents yelling, trying to find him. Liams mum yelled and told them to leave, not wanting to start anything Carter sunk into the seat, hiding from his parents. finally the cops arrived because they wouldnt leave. Liams mum explained to the cops about Carters home life, and the cops believed her, and both of his parents got taken to jail. They got a call later the next day after school that they'd be in for 5 years for years of child abuse. The next day after school carter went to his house to get his stuff, Liams mum was taking him in, they had given him the extra bedroom and when Carter got to stay there, it felt like the biggest relief. for now. Carter picked up his journal and started writing.

Hey, I'm sorry I didnt write more yesterday. it was crazy. well first liam and his mum took me out for tacos, great right! then we went to the beach and went swimming and star gazing until 12 pm. but then when we got back to my house liams mum just drived by, I was staying at their house for the night. but when we got there the house door was wide open and the lights were on, here my parents had tried to find me. and now they're in jail for 5 years for child abuse. crazy right! liams mum is such a life saver man. Well, I have to go, it's time for dinner, maybe I'll write more before I go to sleep. thanks.

he sat his notebook down next to him as he stood up to go downstairs for dinner. he felt at home here. it was so much better than at his house. They were having chicken for supper. Carter noticed Liams arms were always covered by a hoodie, something was off. after dinner he decided to talk to him about it. but for now he pretended he didnt see anything.
