The car trip home was mostly silent, with occasional small talk. Andy parked the car and I slowly got out, slamming the car door and trudging to the front door. I took a deep breath and glanced back at my brother and opened the door and walked in.
My house was an ordinary, small, one story, white house. It had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We had a small living room with a small kitchen and dining room. It wasn't a fancy house, but it was bearable. It had cream colored walls and chocolate brown wooden floors.
The first thing we heard was mom yelling at dad, while he doesn't pay attention because he's watching the game...what else is new. We walk in slowly and dad looks at us and smirks.
"Look who decided to come home. Bitch and Dumbass." I flinched at his harsh worse and tone of voice.
"H-hello father," I whispered, terrified.
"Dad"
Was all Andy said. They've never gotten along and Andy stands up to dad, even though he gets harsher punishment for it.
"Watch your tone, boy." Dad snaps and gets up from his chair. I take a small step back and he swiftly looks at me.
"Whay did I tell you about cowering?! You bitch!" It happened so fast, I feel the sting on my cheek and almost whimper, but I bite my lip.
"I'm s-sorry father," I say quietly, not meeting his eyes.
"Damn right you're sorry." His gruff voice boom.
"She didn't do anything wrong! Stop being such a dick!" Andy yells at him, fury burning in his eyes. I could've sworn I saw murder flash through father's eyes. In one swift move, Andy was on the floor clutching his stomach from where dad punched him. Father kicked and kicked Andy till he was coughing up blood. I look in horror and tears spill from my eyes.
"Clean him up." Father grunts and walks out of the room. I quickly grab a bucket full of water and a wash cloth and proceed to clean Andy's wounds.
"I'm so sorry Andy..." I whisper.
He just looks at me and sighs and closes his eyes.
Only one thing was on my mind.
'We have to get out of here.'
