MADELYN WAS SITTING outside on a fallen branch, humming as she looked around at the beautiful scenery. She sensed someone walk up behind her, but didn't pay no mind, knowing that if need be, she can send whoever it is, flying through the air in seconds.

"Your magic..." the person behind her stated and she sighed heavily while closing her eyes. "Maddie," the person whispered, also sighing but more softly. "I'm sorry about how things went down. I never meant to..." he trailed off, suddenly in front of her. She opened her eyes and looked up at him, raising one brow in a silent 'go ahead' motion. "I had to psych myself into believing I didn't care about you when we left. Emmett fought back, he argued with Carlisle for the first time in many years over something. And it was all because of you. We both didn't want to leave you behind... you and Bella. But we did it because we thought you would've been better without us. Turns out, that wasn't true, but—"

"No, no," she interrupted him, standing up. "It was true. Yeah, it hurt really bad the first few weeks. But, I got over you. I got over being betrayed by a punch of pansy ass fairies that couldn't look themselves in the mirror or face things head on." She rolled her eyes, crossing her arms. "You leaving was the best thing to happen to me, to be honest, cowboy." She smirked at his surprise expression. "If it wasn't for you, I probably wouldn't have met Paul and given him a chance. In just a short amount of time that I have known him, he's made me happier than you ever could." She could see that her honesty was hurting him, but she didn't care.

She took a step closer to him, tilting her head. "I'm not angry anymore," she stated simply. "If anything, I'm grateful that you and your family abandoned me and my sister. It just showed me how much I didn't need you. I never needed you." She shrugged at him, not caring if he was staring at her with a kicked puppy expression. "The truth hurts, huh?" She crossed her arms, looking up at him, chin held high. "So why did you come out here? Really? Because I know it wasn't to apologize."

He sighed, dejected, but understanding. "Fair enough," he mumbled, nodding at her. "I came out here to talk about your newfound powers, Madelyn. It seems like they're connected with your emotions. I can practically feel the magic rolling off of you when you get angry or upset, and when you're is calm, it like seeps back into you."

She gave him an unimpressed look. "No shit Sherlock. I know that it's connected to my emotions. What did you think I did for days on end before coming back to this rainy town? It definitely wasn't to get mani-pedi's. Although I wish that was true."

He licked his lips, jaw clenching which was a sign that she was annoying him, making him frustrated. "Okay..." he cleared his throat. "I want to help you control it."

She rolled her eyes. "I got it under control."

"Yeah, when you are in control of your emotions," he retorted back fast, barely giving her time to snap at him, he continued, "but what if someone controls your emotions instead of yourself? What then?"
