Nightmare x quiet!reader x shattered dream

"Hey!" I roll my eyes as the school bullies call out to me on my way to class. One of them speed ahead of me to block my path. I swiftly doge them and continue on my way to my next class. They were annoyed and about to say something but I had already disappeared into the classroom.

———Time skip———

I was on my way to a secret area I know after school. I had been going there for years. after about a year I took the time and built a swing. the swing was under a willow tree and was mostly hidden from sight. I was walking down the last sidewalk before the hidden trail. it also happened to be the sidewalk my house is on. I quickly glanced up at my house before looking back down and quickening my pace. soon I was sitting on my swing feeling the slight breeze. being out in nature never failed to calm me. I closed my eyes to focus on the birds chirping while the wind ruffles the leaves on the trees the distant sound of the small waterfall's rushing water. when I opened my eyes I thought I saw the shadow of a person but brushed it off thinking I was just seeing things. When the sun was setting I set off down the trail to the lake. I was watching the sun set behind the lake. The sky a beautiful golden hue and the clouds fluffy and pink. Having heard a bush move I glanced to my side and thought I saw that shadow again but the light provided by the darkening sky was not enough to tell. Before the sun had set completely I jumped up from the spot I was sitting at grabbed my bag and ran the short distance home. I attempted to quietly shut the door as to not wake any of my family. When I walked into the kitchen I was meet with my mother standing there with her arms crossed.
"You're late." I thought this was going to turn into another lecture but instead, she sighed before moving to rub her temples. "Your dinner is waiting in the microwave, I want you to eat then start on your homework."
I beamed at her excited that she saved me a plate of food. "Alright!"

———Time skip ———

I flop on my bed after spending the past few hours doing homework. I was going to spend some time on the internet but the more I laid in my nice warm bed the more I didn't want to move. I quickly drifted off to sleep.

———Time skip———

When I awoke I wasn't in my room. I quickly sat up trying to figure out where I was and why. I looked towards the other side of the room and saw a black skeleton with 4 black tentacles on its back. I quickly find myself backing away only to hit the wall.
"W-who are you?" I whispered out of fear.
The skeleton smirked before answering " I'm your worst nightmare." The tentacles stood up like they were ready to attack. They hovered midair for a moment before falling back down. The skeleton walked towards the door and opened it then turned back around to look at me. The skeleton quickly glanced down at the floor and a shade of blue appears on the skeletons face. Against the black goop that covered the skeleton, I found it rather appealing. The skeleton about to walk out the door said " I'll come back after you calm down."

Why did I hesitate? This was thought going through my head as I walked down the stairs. I was drawn to her Au by her negativity. I only kept her alive because of how much negativity she has. So why did I hesitate? As I took in her scared expression and trembling body I just couldn't threaten her. Once I got down the stairs I walked to the kitchen and started preparing her food.

I couldn't tell how much time had past but I knew it wasn't a lot. I had calmed down a bit when I heard the door open. The skeleton had walked back in with a plate of my favorite food. I was a bit hesitant as it might have been poisoned but it was (F/f) so I couldn't resist. After I started eating the skeleton pulled the chair from across the room next to the bed where I was sitting. The skeleton finally introduced himself and started to explain why I was here. By the time the skeleton, Nightmare, was done talking I had finished eating. Nightmare notices the empty plate and takes It with one of his tentacles using one of his hands to pull something out of his pocket. He suddenly got really close to my face and I was super confused until he used what he pulled out of his pocket to wipe my face. I flushed at this sudden action. Half out of embarrassment half out of his close Nightmare was.

The entire time I was explaining to (Y/n) why she was here she stayed silent. When I had finished telling (y/n) a bit about the multiverse and how I had found her au she had finished eating. I looked towards (y/n) only to realize she had food on her face. I used one of my tentacles to pick up the plate to take care of it later while I used my free hands to grab something out of my pocket to wipe (y/n) face. I took note of her reddening cheeks as something to tease her about later. Once I pulled away I started towards the door and stopped once I had opened it. Looking back at (y/n) she had her face buried in a pillow. She's probably tired especially after hearing everything I told her. I walked out the door closing it behind me. As soon as I heard the door click I smirked as I plotted to give (y/n) a nightmare to see how she reacted.

I opened my eyes to see my self sitting on a swing. All around me were dead trees. I quickly stood up recognizing this place as the secret area I went to after school. I dashed down the path almost tripping over my feet. I quickly got to the end and when I turned the corner. Blood... blood? I looked up and what I saw horrified me. Neighbors. Strangers. Family. Everyone on the street was...dead! I continued to walk down the road. Everything around me was dead. Trees. People. Houses and roads were destroyed...
I quickly sat up after awakening from that horrible dream-no from that nightmare. Deciding I should go find Nightmare to get a tour of some sort. I stood up and walked towards the door. Opening the door I took a look at my surroundings before stepping out the door. I spotted a staircase and curious as to where it leads I decided to walk down the stairs.

I was sitting in a chair relaxing when I heard a door open specifically the door to (y/n) room. hearing her walk down the stairs I walked towards the staircase to meet up with her. when I saw her with bags under her eyes and faint tear stains on her cheeks. something changed inside me. I approached where she had stopped on the stairs after noticing me. I held out my hand for her. she stared at it confused. "there's something I want to show you." she reached out and grabbed my hand. I blushed at the warmth emitting from her hand. I quickly glanced down to see (y/n) with a similar blush on her face. I ended up teleporting her to a clearing in the forest. the millions of stars in the sky could never compare to the expression on (y/n) face. after being stunned for a minute in wonder and excitement. she found the best tree and climbed onto one of the branches to get a better view of the sky. I was quick to follow her by teleporting next to her on the tree branch. we were silent while we looked at the stars. no words were needed as we sat next to each other secretly enjoying the other one's presence. after a while a felt sudden weight on my shoulder. I looked over at (y/n) to see her leaning against me. her cheeks dusted in a rosy hue. "thank you Nightmare." she whispered before closing her eyes. a deep blush settled on my face while I used a tentacle to ruffle her hair. she lifted her head and pouted that I would mess up her hair before resting her head back on my shoulder. after she fell asleep I picked her up and teleported to her room. I laid her down and made sure she was fully covered with a blanket before leaving her room and heading to mine.

when I awoke the next morning I replayed the events from the last night. I felt heat rush to my cheeks but quickly shook my head to prevent myself from dwelling on these events any longer and make my blush worse. deciding I had spent enough time in bed I ventured out of my room in search of Nightmare. I had made it halfway down the stairs when I heard two voices. one I recognized as Nightmare's but didn't recognize the other voice. curious to who Nightmare was talking with I quietly snuck down the rest of the stairs and hid behind the closest wall. even with only a wall dividing us, I could only make out wisps of words. I was so hyperfocused on hearing what they were talking about that I jumped when Nightmare called me "(y/n) we know you're there." I slowly made my way out from my hiding spot behind the wall. the other skeleton was quick to make introductions and explain why he was here. " I've come to ask you a question!" I stayed silent waiting for Dream to continue. "I technically came to take you somewhere new to live but it seems Nightmare won't let you go that easily so I thought instead of having an argument that would lead to us fighting to let you make the decision"

he started talking about how wonderfully the place he would take me is when I interrupted him "I'll stay with Nightmare"

"great-wait what! You understand that Nightmare could attack at any moment!

"I don't think Nightmare is a bad person just misunderstood." I glanced over a Nightmare who seemed satisfied with my answer.

Nightmare spoke next "well then Dream (y/n) has made her decision is there anything else you need."

Dream having already summoned a portal voiced his last thought "nope see you later I guess."

as soon as Dream disappeared I turned to Nightmare for an explanation only to see he had disappeared. shrugging I walked away to go find something to do.

It's been one month since Nightmare destroyed my home. I don't blame him for his actions. despite the fact that he may have kidnapped me he's made my stay here rather enjoyable and much better than my life before. every week he takes time from his important work to spend time with me. we usually spend the day relaxing inside doing what we feel like doing and spending the night outside looking at the stars. today was no different. Nightmare and I were hanging out in my room when I left to get us some snacks. while I was waiting for some food to finish cooking I heard a thump behind me. I slowly turned around and saw a skeleton laying on the floor. thinking it was an intruder a grab the closest thing next to me which was a knife. after noticing I was holding a knife the skeleton was quick to stand up and explain "(y/n) it's me Dream" I was a bit septical since this skeleton looked nothing like the Dream I met last month. after I remembered the first time meeting Dream and confirming that the skeleton was in fact Dream I turned around to put the knife away. when I turned back around I spotted Nightmare walking down the stairs. probably to see what was taking me so long. Nightmare walked into the kitchen and immediately raised his tentacles ready to attack. I walked towards Nightmare and managed to convince him not to attack. that's when I took a good look at the skeleton currently standing in the middle of our kitchen. he looked a lot like Nightmare. the only difference being the yellow highlights. I was the one to break the silence that had plagued us. "well Dream you look...different."

Nightmare seemed surprised at the name that just came out of my mouth and was about to say something but Dream spoke first "Its a long story..."

Nightmare looked at me. I glanced at Nightmare and nodded "we got time." Nightmare said beginning to walk back towards the stairs. Dream and I followed Nightmare as he leads us back to my room. once we reach my room we all sat on my bed awaiting an explanation from Dream. he looked at us confused at why we were both staring at him.finally realizing what we were waiting for he recalls the events that lead him here. "heh, you're like a shattered dream." I muttered assuming no one heard.

"Hmm, Shattered dream...I like that name!" Dream or now Shattered Dream said. I blushed at the fact that not only did they both hear me but Dream chose what I said as his new name. Shattered Dream used his tentacles to pull me into a hug. Nightmare pulled me to him and kissed my cheek. a deep blush appeared on my face. shattered dream glared at his brother before pulling me back and giving my forehead a kiss. my blushed reddened as I blushed more than I thought to be humanly possible.

"A-anyway we should decide how to continue today." after a bit of discussion we decided we would watch a movie. after getting the movie set up I made myself comfortable laying across Nightmare and Shattered dream. Shattered dream was playing with my hair while Nightmare gave me a foot massage.

I had almost fallen asleep with how relaxed I felt when something Shattered dream said made me bolt back up "does anyone smell something burning." both skeletons watched me race around the kitchen trying to take care of the food I had forgotten was cooking. trudging back to my room tired from all the running around I just did. walking in my room I flopped into to middle of my bed. the skeletons walked back into my room soon after I did. Nightmare laid down on the left side of the bed while Shattered dream laid down on the right side of the bed. each of them rested an arm over me. I fell asleep that night feeling relaxed and secure.
