Seven
During dinner, Hyun Been couldn't help but be amused as her eyes wandered around the table. It was funny how her two friends were eyeing the other woman at the table. They were surely not letting go of their interrupted conversation earlier. While Jung Min was not subtle in watching her, Jun Han had been discreetly grinning at her whenever she happened to look at them. Go Eun was clearly aware of the looks being directed her way since she kept her conversation with Yeon Seok going, trying her best not to meet their eyes. It didn't take long before Yeon Seok, clueless to what happened earlier, picked on the strange atmosphere between her friends.
"What's with the looks?"
"Uri Kim Go Eun is dating," Jung Min immediately blurted out, as if waiting to be asked, with a wide grin on his face as he scooped some soup on his bowl.
An amused smile appeared on Yeon Seok's face while Go Eun gave their friend a warning look. "Ya."
Hyun Been raised her eyebrows at her. "Wae? So you're to tell me you're not dating you're co-star from your last movie?"
"Mwoe?" Jung Min's surprised loud voice made the rest of them laugh. "She's talking about Jung Hae In? You're dating Jung Hae In? Your actor Jung Hae In?"
The actress gave him an exasperated look. "Will you calm down? And what do you mean my actor?"
Jung Min shook his head and said with a serious yet teasing voice, "Wah~, Kim Go Eun. I thought we were your best friends. I can't believe you're hiding such an important part of your life from us. And basing on what I just heard, he's really your actor."
"Stop saying that!"
"So, he isn't your boyfriend?" he challenged.
Go Eun was momentarily caught off guard but gave them a look of disbelief after a few seconds. "Ya, when did I ever hide a boyfriend from you guys?"
"Then why did you go out with him?" Jun Han, who Hyun Been initially thought would stop them, joined them. "And it seemed to be a regular thing if I would guess from what Been just told us."
As the rest threw questions at the other woman, Hyun Been received a look that promised retribution. In their group of friends, the one who they never want to mess up the most was the actress. Go Eun could always come up with a thousand ways and one to get back at them. Normally, she would be scared- she was not the usual recipient of those looks. Right now, though, she just shrugged and smiled at her friend, enjoying the situation she was in. She knew the other woman was hiding something from them and she wanted to know the answer.
Dropping her chopsticks, the actress leaned back to her chair, crossed her arms, and took a deep breath with her eyes close, as if praying for patience, before addressing her audience at the table. "Yes, we did go out a few times. And yes, it was at Ahjussi. I knew the place well and it's near to both of our places so it seemed sensible to just go there. No, it wasn't a date or anything. I'm helping him with something."
Before any of them could ask any more questions, she raised her hand. "I'm just helping him with something and I'm not telling you what it is. Of course, we also go out because we're friends and that's what friends do."
They all snickered with how the friend was stressed but Go Eun was determined to ignore their comments as she stated with finality, "But that's it. We're not dating. I'm allowed to have friends besides you guys, you know. Friends. We're friends."
