"Cara, how was your day at school?" My dad asked, without a care in the world. I looked around the restaurant my dad took me to for dinner. It was spacious and had very few people around, the lights were warm and the heating was on since winter had started.
I rolled my eyes and sipped my canned soda. I faced him. "It was average, nothing special." I replied. He scanned my face, "Would you smile and look happy for once?".
How could I smile if I wasn't even happy?
Before an argument begun the waitress arrived ready to take our orders. Dad and I both ordered a burger with a side of fries.
We were silent after the waitress took our order.
After finishing our food we drove back home. It was freezing outside and we got home just before it started raining. I ran upstairs to my room to start a science project we were assigned to do.
I'd be nothing without good grades.
A few hours zoomed by and I was almost most finished but I was interrupted by my dad who barged in without knocking. "Cara, it's almost 1AM, get to bed!" He ordered. I didn't want to argue so I abided.
I bathed, brushed my teeth and hopped into bed. I was exhausted and fell into a deep slumber quickly.
Morning arrived and my alarm went off. It was time to get to school. After brushing my hair and teeth, I stumbled downstairs to get to the kitchen where a wonderful smell of bacon and coffee spread through the air.
My dad had left a plate of breakfast for me before he left for work. I gobbled it up quickly and it was time for school.
