******Third Person POV*******

The sun is shining brightly in the blue sky as Sam walks through the cemetery dresses in a suit and tie, carrying a bouquet of flowers ignoring the various chirping birds.

Sighing, Sam stops next to a gravestone with large writing. ‘Jessica Lee Moore, Beloved Daughter, January 24th 1984 – November 2nd 2005’ is written with a small picture of a smiling Jess set into the stone above her name.

There are items scattered around the headstone; a black and white photo of Jess, a white teddy bear, a small American flag and a box with a crucifix leaning on it along with three candles standing on the gravestone.

Sam looks between the gravestone and the flowers “I, uh…” Sam trails off before laughing. “You always said roses were, were lame, so I brought you, uh...” Sam says glancing at the flowers he brought, not a single rose in the assortment.

“Staring at the picture set into the gravestone Sam holds back his tears eventually having to look away before stepping closer to the gravestone.

“Jess…oh God…” Sam cringes keeling to set down the flowers. “I should have protected you. I should have told you the truth.” Sam says leaning the flowers in front of the crucifix. All is still and quiet, too quiet, the birds no longer tweet and there is no longer a gentle breeze, when suddenly an arm covered in dirt shoots out of the ground and grabs Sam by the wrist causing Sam to jerk awake.

Nov 10 2005.

Sam had been muttering in his sleep for a while before he jerked awake with a gasp. Dean and I shared a look in the mirror and silently agreed not to bring it up. We had been driving for a while now, after grabbing more stuff from my house and talking to the school about me doing my work from home we had set out on the road last night.

Dean looked over at Sam with concern clear on his face “You okay?” Dean asks and I roll my eyes from the back seat. The guys girlfriend just died, of course he wasn’t okay!

Sam seeming to share my thoughts glances at Dean before looking away. “Yeah, I’m fine” Sam says while looking out the window while I sit in the backseat twiddling my thumbs, I had no idea what to say to Sam.

“Another nightmare?” Dean asks and I almost reach out to slap him across the back of the head! Hello! What happened to our silent agreement???

Sam clears his throat shifting in his seat clearly uncomfortable. “You don’t need to answer that Sam” I say softly before glaring at Dean in the revision mirror, the wimp doesn’t even make eye contact. “You wanna drive for a while?” Dean asks Sam who laughs while I return to my economics work while listening to their conversation. “Dean, your whole life you never once asked me that” Sam says looking at Dean like he has grown a second head.

“Just thought you might want to. Never mind” Dean snipes back keeping his eyes on the road. “Look, man, you're worried about me” Sam says before taking a breath and continuing “I get it, and thank you, but I'm perfectly okay” Sam says and even I can tell what a bad lie that was.

“Mm-hm” Dean replies clearly catching the lie as well. Instead of replying Sam grabs a map out of the glove compartment. “All right, where are we?” Sam asks spreading the map out over his legs. “We are just outside of Grand Junction” Dean explains in a bored tone.

“Sam folds down the Colorado map looking at the large Red X labeled 35-111 “You know what?” Sam asks in his business tone causing me to stop doing my work knowing where this conversation was going.
