The Curse - Chapter 5

Without thinking, I run straight through many different roads bawling my eyes out.

I just don't know what happened. one minute Clara was waiting for me to get off the phone, the next minute, she's dead.

I see the sign for hospital and I know it is nearby. Even though Clara is dead, you never know if the doctors can revive her.

I turn a right corner, straight into the hospital. "Front desk, front desk, front desk!" I mumble, running through the hospital.

I run right into a man and mumble a quick 'Sorry'. I finally find the front desk, "Where is Clara Gidden?" I ask.

"Are you family?"

"No! She's my friend!"

"I'm sorry ma'am, you cannot see her unless you are family."

"She's my cousin!" I blurt out, surprising myself.

"Are you lying to me?" The front desk lady asked, her eyes narrowing.

"No! Of course not!"

The nurse clicked away at her computer, "Okay.. Alright. She is in room 34B on level 2."

I nodded my head in thanks and ran to the elevator. I click the up button but the elevator doesn't come yet.

"Gosh darn it!" I yell at the slow elevator and run up the stairs next to it.

"30B....31B.....32B......33B.....34B!!" I turn the knob slowly and push open the door. I slowly walk in and stare at Clara. I close and lock the door behind me and close the shades.

"Oh Clara..." I whisper and turn my head to the heart monitor, which I realize is in a straight line, making a long 'beeeeeeeep'.

Clara. She-she's dead.... I sit down on a chair and cry for what seems like hours.

I slowly push myself up from the chair and make my way to Clara. I push some blonde strands away from her face and hug her.

I turn away from her and start to turn the knob to the door as I hear a huge gasp. I slowly turn around in horror as I see the plenty living Clara sitting up in her seat.

"Cl-Clara.. You should still be dead. You have been for hours.."

Clara ripped everything that was connected to her off in half a second and quickly stood up, her vanes popping out under her eyes.

"C-Clara!" I scream as she starts chasing me. I quickly take a sharp right turn to run straight into Clara, who was previously behind me.

She opens her mouth but at that moment, her popped out vanes went back to normal and she stared at me in the eyes.

"Forget everything that happened." She ordered me and my mind automatically went blank.
