Life changing: that's the first thing Shōto could think when Izuku came to his mind.
The short green haired bundle of happiness was his own little miracle; he came and turned his life upside down in a few minutes.
He admired Midoriya with all his heart and little by little, with every afternoon spent together, he grew fond of him and his life slowly seemed to gain color and every piece of his life finally getting back together.
The anger, the pain, the resentment slowly dissipated leaving space to happiness and love, feelings that had always been foreign to him for a long time and, as time passed, he could feel his admiration grow and grow until he finally realized that the admiration has blossomed into love.
Shōto found hilarious how fate put Midoriya on his path, and although he knew his feelings couldn't be mutual, he felt incredibly lucky as he considered Midoriya the purest, bravest and kindest person he had met. He couldn't imagine himself falling for anyone else but Izuku: his personal hero.

Shōto watched from afar as Izuku and Katsuki had yet another fight over God knows what and sighing he quickly made his way to the two boys grabbing Katsuki's wrist, the blond boy angrily glaring at him.

"What do you want Half-n-half?" - the blonde spatted.

"Leave him alone" - he said lightly as his right hand let go of Bakugō's wrist.

In any other situation the two would have started their own fight but luckily Eijiro was passing by and threw an arm over Katsuki's shoulder taking him away apologizing for the blonde's behaviour.
Shōto sighed and turned his attention to Izuku. The shorter boy smiled brightly at him, his heart doing a flip as Izuku kept muttering of how he always seemed to be his personal hero ready to help him at any time. He smiled almost unnoticeably, only to Izuku to know and started to walk by the boy's side towards the school exit, brushing his hand against the other's one from time to time in a subtle attempt to hold hands. Unfortunately, Midoriya didn't get the hint and their fingers never intertwined.

"See you tomorrow Todoroki-kun!" - Izuku said still smiling before turning around and walking the opposite way of his house.

Shōto stood there for a few minutes admiring the mess of green curls walk away, until he turned the corner and disappeared. He turned around and started to walk home as well.
He smiled to himself as he thought of that perfect smile feeling happy even if his throat became dry again.

"Can you just prescribe the meds so that I can be on my way?" - Shōto asked the doctor with a sigh.

"Boy, have you heard a word of what I said?" - The doctor asked frowning.

Of course he did, he heard every word. Hanahaki disease it was then, so what? Did he actually expect Shōto to confess his feelings? That was never going to happen. It wasn't out of cowardice; he just knew that Izuku could never love him of all people. How could someone so special as the greenette love someone like him? Someone so damaged both on the inside and on the outside...
He didn't want to ruin their friendship, Izuku was his first and only true friend, the only person he trusted unconditionally, the only person who accomplished to break down his walls and enter his life. There was no way he was willing to risk what they had for his stupid feelings.
He didn't even care about that at all, all he cared was having Izuku in his life: it didn't matter if it would kill him in the end.

"I did, can you prescribe something, or do I have to see another doctor to have some meds?" - he asked expressionless.

The doctor sighed and started to write down a couple prescriptions.

"When things will get worse, don't hesitate to come back. Once petals start to come out, come here immediately, we'll get you a surgery!" - the doctor said handing him the prescriptions.
