The Wrong Turn

Everything was good and well in the life of Betty Palmer, until that one regular day when she was in her car
driving to work and made a wrong turn. That's when everything changed. Just one wrong turn off the highway and her life was never the same again.

She took the same route everyday to work and back, but on that day for some reason she got off at exit 13, she took a wrong turn off the highway. As soon as she got onto the street she realized something was off, she parked her car and got out to what seemed an abandoned sidewalk, the whole place looked bland and colorless, except for a small flash of blue she saw out of the corner of her eyes. It was only there for a second then it was gone, like a memory. She looked around the exit where she got off the highway was nowhere in sight, she couldn't have driven that far. She started walking on the sidewalk until she saw a small deli shop. She opened the door and walked in, there was no one inside, but there was a half eaten bagel and a cup of coffee on the counter. "Hello?" She asked "is anyone there?" There was no answer only the faint blow of the wind.

She got out of the shop and started walking back to her car. She was really creeped out now. She turned the corner to where her car should have been parked, but there was nothing there. " where's my car?!?" She yelled. But there was no one around to hear her.

She heard a loud thump noise and turned around, a garbage can had toppled over, and there was a black cat running across the street. No car, no one around, that weird ominous feeling, her best bet was to follow the cat.

She ran after the cat into another abandoned street, the cat ran and turned the corner, Betty followed the cat and turned the corner as well. She stopped mid step, the cat was nowhere in sight, it couldn't have disappeared that quick, she was right behind it. She looked around, "Hello? Cat? Where did you go?" The cat couldn't have just disappeared.
