Hey Kourt can I ask you something?"
We were in my room sorting through my clothes again. When Kourt is super passionate about doing something with you, she won't keep quiet until you agree to do it with her. She also said that if I let her go through my closet, I would be nominated as the bestest friend a girl could ask for. I gave in and said yes, she then told me that I was already nominated for that award but hey, I didn't want to take any chances.
"Yeah sure what's up." Said Kourtney while she wrote something in a notepad.
"Pretend you're on a plane and you're preparing yourself to skydive."
She paused her writing and looked up. "Nini, is this conversation dangerous?"
I laughed. "Just listen okay?" Kourtney nodded and waited for me to continue.
"You're really scared to go skydiving. I mean something could break or go wrong. But you know that if you do, your bucket list that you've been working on for two years would be complete. What would you do?"
Kourtney took a minute to really think about the question. "I mean I guess if it would complete the bucket list, I would do it. Yeah it might be scary but it's an amazing experience that I wouldn't want to miss out on because I was scared. Bravery is key."
Kourtney gave me a look that told me to spill whatever I was hiding. "Why?"
Tears filled my eyes for no reason and I didn't try to hide it. "Because..." I started slowly. "I think I might like Ricky, but I'm scared that dating him means I could possibly lose him." I wiped my tears. "The thing is, I know that if I do date him, I would be the happiest girl in the world because...because-"
"He's Ricky Bowen." Interrupted Kourtney. "Video game and skateboarding loving Ricky Bowen who, I am most certain likes you too. Oh Nini please don't cry. You know that if I see you cry, I'm going to start crying and I really don't want to mess up my makeup." She dabbed her eyelashes.
"I don't even know why I'm crying. Ugh."
"Nini I see the relationship going really well. You guys have both never dated before so it will take some getting used to, but that takes time. If you both trust each other to make it work then, I think you'll be okay."
"Yeah. Thanks Kourt. I guess now I have to figure out some way to tell him, or at least find a way to be sure he likes me back."
"Well you can think about it while we head to his house. I'm so excited to show the finished product of the tuturial, injuries and all."
It was a week since Ricky hurt himself and his ankle was finally mostly back to normal.
Kourtney and I walked to Ricky's. When Big Red arrived, we all gathered in the living room.
"Okay people." Said Ricky as he carried over a bowl of popcorn. "I have the popcorn so now, we can start." Ricky came and sat beside me on the couch.
"Can everyone promise to make this space a judgment free zone? I've never been on video like this before." Said Big Red. We all laughed.
I nudged Ricky's arm. "I'm really excited for this." I whispered.
He smiled. "Me too actually." He whispered back.
The tutorial was really good! You could tell that even though the day didn't go as planned, a lot of work was still put into it. I also loved how Kourtney added a blooper reel at the end and included Ricky's accident. Looking back, it was kind of funny. But I would never have said that if Ricky didn't agree.
"Wow Kourtney, you have mad editing skills. I'm not embarrassed." Said Big Red before he stuffed his mouth with popcorn.
"Big Red that was all you and Ricky. You have nothing to be embarrassed about. It was really good." Said Kourtney.
"Good enough to be on Youtube?" Asked Big Red.
"Dude, too far." Said Ricky.
We stayed and talked for a while but soon it was time to go.
I lingered after everyone left. I thought about it a lot and I'm not going to know how Ricky feels unless I tell him how I feel. So I'm going to do it.
I walked out the front door and Ricky stood in the doorway. I turned around to face him. "I'm glad the video turned out. Your dad will be skateboarding in no time."
Ricky gave a small, hesitant laugh. "Yeah."
He ran his hand through his curls. We just stood there for what felt like an eternity.
Just tell him how you feel I said in my mind. I took a silent breath. "Um Ricky, I need-"
"I need to tell you something." He interrupted. "Oh sorry, you can go first."
"It's okay, you can."
Ricky sighed and then locked eyes with mine. What is he about to tell me?
