"Y/N."

Black eyes swift to the right and a small smile was placed on Y/N's face. She nods and begins to follow the person close behind.

"We have to start training now that we're almost genin." The person glares at Y/N who nods slowly.

"Yes...I know..." She says shyly.

"It'll be harder because your Sharingan didn't activate."

"I know that..."

"So-"

"Sasuke..." Y/N stops and grabs Sasuke's hand. He turns to look at her with a glare.

"I know that..." She frowns. "I....I...."

"You what?"

Y/N opens her mouth to speak but shakes her head. "No...I can't tell him yet..."

"Nothing...never mind..." She lets go of Sasuke's hand and he sighs, glare disappearing. "I know this is a tough time for you...for us...but...we gotta stick together if you want to survive. Without your Sharingan, you'll lack behind me. We can't afford that. You know it." Sasuke glares softly at the girl.

"Yeah...Sasuke....but...what if I don't activate my Sharingan? I'll be useless..." She frowns and closes her eyes.

"No." Sasuke shakes his head. "Don't say that. Soon, we'll be placed in teams of three. Hopefully, you and I are on the same team."

Y/N nods and smiles. "Sure..." She smiles shyly and Sasuke gives her a short smile back.

The two walked into town and Sasuke bought him and Y/N some mochi. He was nice to Y/N and Y/N only because she was an Uchiha too. The two were quite close before their clan was killed.

Surprisingly enough, Y/N's Sharingan didn't activate when the thing happened. She...was too shocked to even comprehend what had happened.

One minute, she was eating dinner with her mom, then the next, she has blood covering her face and clothes. Her mom laying dead...

The lights were off and there stood there In front of her was no one other than Itachi Uchiha.

Her eyes widened as Itachi stood there with his sword up in the air, ready to strike.

"I'm sorry...Y/N..."

Y/N swore she saw tears rolling down his face but it was too dark to tell.

"I-Itachi..." Y/N finally realized what happened. "Did you kill my..momma?"

Itachi's eyes widened a bit, confused. "Didn't your mom-" He was cut off by Y/N smiling a little, his guilt skyrocketing higher.

"I'm sorry..." He closes his eyes and slices his sword came down to Y/N but she yelps and rolls on the ground, the sword slicing half of her face and shoulder.

Y/N grunts in pain as blood spilled out her face and she looks at Itachi with wide eyes. Her heart was beating fast and Itachi stood there, eyes widened. He didn't think she would block his attack so fast.

"Why?" Y/N asks calmly as she stood up slowly. It hurts to move but Y/N did anyway. "Why are you...doing this? Did you kill..." She looks out the window and saw blood in the streets.

"I'm sorry for doing this..." Itachi says slowly as he put down his sword. "But...I'm willing to spare your life if you promise me something..." He looks at the young girl.

"Yes...yes what is it?"

"Promise me you'll protect Sasuke...watch over him and keep him out of trouble..."

"Huh?" Y/N stares at Itachi and he sighs.

"I don't have much time here but I'm telling you guys are the only ones I spared. You and Sasuke...you guys need to defeat this guy named Danzo. Sooner rather than later I guess...find Sasuke and get to safety. Don't tell him I said this..."

Itachi looks at Y/N one final time before she could say anything to him. He smiles a bit before disappearing, leaving Y/N all alone.

"Y/N!"

"H-Huh?"

A girl with blonde hair and blue eyes stared at her with a smile on her face.

"Are you listening to me?" She asked. Her name was Ino Yamanaka.

"O-Oh..." Y/N looks down at the ground as she realized her surroundings.

She, Ino, Sasuke, and this girl with pink hair were sitting at a table outside a restaurant. Sasuke was putting his food in the trash so that gave Ino some time to talk to Y/N.

"Since you and Sasuke are so close, why don't you introduce us to him. I'm sure he's interested in us, right Sakura?"

"Uh-huh." The girl with pink hair said with a happy smile.

"O-Oh!" Y/N blushes and looks down at her food that she didn't even eat yet.

"I don't think he's interested...he's not into that stuff yet...."

"Finally...Sakura needs to get over him already. I'm only here to be a good friend but geez. When will this girl learn?" Ino thought with a tired look.

"Oh come on Y/N." Sakura pleaded. "He has to be interested. I mean, he's always with you basically."

"W-Well me and Sasuke-"

"Are you guys together, right?" She frowns at Y/N.

"N-No...he's my friend!" Y/N tried to protest with a blush.

"Yeah right!" Sakura puts a hand on her hip and glares at Y/N. "You two have been together since day one at the academy!"

"T-That doesn't mean anything..."

"It so does!"

"It doesn't," Sasuke says as he interrupted the conversation. He grabs Y/N's hand and dragged her off.

"We're going." Sasuke glares at Sakura before walking off, Y/N following him reluctantly.

"See. I told you." Ino says. "Seriously Sakura. You gotta let him go. He isn't interested-"

"No," Sakura says determinedly. "He is...just... it's not the right time for him-"

"Oh please." Ino walks off and Sakura glares at Y/N.
