drunk

max roamed around in the upstairs hallway trying to find an empty room just so she could get away from all the terribly drunk teens. once she got to the end she entered a room she thought was empty but was very mistaken.

she entered to see none other than mike wheeler lying on the bed, seemingly and quite obviously drunk to her. as soon as she noticed him she started backing away, trying to find her way back out the room without turning around because she was afraid that if she did face her back to him he would grab her or something.

but he beat her to leaving as he quickly got up and locked the door as he approached her and made her back up against the wall. he placed a hand on one side of her as he smiled down at her. he then used his other hand to take off his shirt.

she urged herself not to but she looked down to his bare chest then quickly diverted her attention to his face instead. after a moment he asked, "you haven't said 'ew that's disgusting, put your shirt back on' yet." max froze and urged herself to speak but her throat was squeezed too tight for her to speak.

after a moment she found herself saying, to her own betrayal, "well you're not so bad looking wheeler." "wow... madmax complimenting me. that's basically the same thing as anyone else calling me hot," he said back with a light snicker and a devilish smirk.

"bold of you to assume that anyone would call you hot," she shot back harshly, a way of taking back what she said a moment ago. mike narrowed his eyes at her slightly then let out a curt laugh. "you're right. maybe i shouldn't be so self absorbed," he said back.

she was confused now. what was he doing? was he playing tricks with her mind? she didn't respond to him. "you're here so maybe i should give you a treat," he then suggested. max gave him a disgusted look but found herself asking anyways, "what kind of treat?"

"one you'll really enjoy," he purred. max crinkled her nose up in disgust at his comment, not having to ask what he was referring to. "no. now mike, let me leave," she said, turning and trying to reach and unlock the door but he grabbed her arm and pushed it lightly against the wall she was against already.

she narrowed her eyes at him as she tried to wiggle free but he was a lot stronger than she thought he was, especially while drunk. as she struggled mike grabbed her other hand and did the same thing with it as he did to the other.

he then inched dangerously close to her, his face inches from hers. she could smell his intoxicated breath and feel it down her neck. it sent shivers down her spine as she breathed heavily as if she were frozen or in a trance. she was too scared to make any move.

when she finally moved a little and looked up into his eyes he smiled a little before letting her arms go and kissing her surprisingly gently. max willed herself to not kiss back and to pull away but she was so intoxicated with him in the moment and couldn't make herself do it. she wanted it, she wanted mike wheeler to kiss her. she was even, dare she think, enjoying it?

just as she wrapped her arms around his neck she stopped and pulled away, trying to think what the hell she was doing. mike was looking at her curiously as he said her name softly, "max?" the way he said her name made her heart melt and it only made her want to kiss him more.

"i don't care if you're drunk mike. i want to kiss you again," she said bluntly to him. he studied her for a moment then nodded as he smiled slightly before pressing his lips to hers once more. she just let herself melt into the kiss, wrapping her arms securely around his neck as he wrapped his around her waist.

after a few moments mike turned around and lifted her and laid her on the bed. once he did he broke away from her lips and looked at her. she smiled lazily at him and she looked tired. "max you look tired maybe you should sleep," he mentioned.

"okay. only if you keep me safe as i do though," she said back to him. he nodded as he laughed and helped her get more into the bed, pulling the covers over both them once he climbed in also. max faced away from him and he wrapped an arm around her waist. she placed a hand on his around her waist and rubbed circles on his palm. eventually they both drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

- in the morning -

max woke up facing the black haired boy. she smiled as she thought of last night then frowned at remembering how he was drunk and would probably wake up and treat her like shit. she continued to frown to herself as she got lost in her thoughts, losing sight of the pretty boy in front of her for a moment until he asked sweetly, "hey max what's that frown for?"

she blinked out of surprise and brought her eyes back to the real world to see him looking at her, not seeming mad or anything of the sort and instead genuinely concerned which surprised her. "mike?" she asked. he nodded and was tempted to laugh, "yeah. you seem surprised,"

"well yeah... i thought you would be yelling at me," she said back honestly. mike shook his head. max just realised that he hadn't removed his arm from her waist yet. "if you think i hate you i don't," he said to her.

"mike are you still drunk?" she asked, trying to give him a lighthearted smile but obvious pain apparent in her eyes. "no i'm not. i'm perfectly sober. i know you like me. and i like you back max. in all seriousness. i'm not screwing around," he said back sincerely. max blinked a few times from pure shock.

she was surprised, what he was saying couldn't be true, could it? there is no reason why he would lie, right? mike noticed the confusion and disbelief on her face and let out a small laugh. "you don't have to believe me," he told her, he knew she probably didn't and he couldn't blame her.

max let out a soft sigh as she nodded slightly. mike lifted a hand up and tucked some of her hair behind one of her ears as he gave her a soft smile. max met his gaze as she let herself smile back, leaning into his touch a little bit.

and next thing she knew they were kissing like they had been last night. those this time they were both perfectly sober. it was real. genuine.
