Lara's point of view-

I ran until even my wolf couldn't run anymore and I still didn't feel like it was enough. My pack would find me, and when they did I didn't even want to fathom what they would do to me. I was officially Rogue. It wasn't even that though, I was a huge pawn in their game. Not even my father's Alpha position could save me.

It all started a few months ago.

I walked in from doing my patrol. The run felt amazing since my father had been mainly training me in my human form for my Alpha responsibilities. But as soon as I stepped over the threshold into my house I felt the presence of another Alpha. My muscles tensed and I headed for my father's study. I knocked on the door and after a few seconds I was told to enter. There sitting across from my father was the Alpha of the Bane pack and his son Aaron. Not necessarily our enemy but our packs bordered each other so there was constant underlying animosity. My father briskly walked over to me and introduced us with an odd smile on his face. The whole situation was making not only me uneasy but my wolf as well.

"Father," I greeted him as I bowed my head and barred my neck to show respect.

"Have a seat, Lara." I did as my father asked while eyeing Alpha Bane and his son. It was easy to describe Aaron. He encompassed the stereotype of the high-school Alpha male. He was hot in the way high school crushes are hot. Superficial and fleeting. He was also arrogant and willfully ignorant. When I looked over to him he had a smirk on his face while his eyes were practically undressing me. Trust me, if I wasn't in polite company I would've flipped him off. He made me incredibly uneasy.

"Well let's get down to business shall we?" my father stated. For some reason this whole meeting felt off.

"Lara, Aaron you both have come of age and it's time to think of the future of our packs. Both of them." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "We think it best that you two marry as soon as possible. Once you two have wed, we will step down and you will become the Alpha and Luna of a new unified pack." I was shocked, I wanted to protest. All my life my parents had told me about the amazing, wonderful, perfect thing that was being mated to your True Mate, and now my dad was setting up my marriage and eventual mating to the worst possible man for me. When wolves mate we mate for life and trust me we live long lives. I felt like I couldn't breathe. I looked to my father and what I saw was hard, steely determination in his ice blue eyes. This couldn't be happening.

I stood up abruptly, getting the attention of everyone in the room. My wolf definitely did not like the idea of mating with anyone but our True Mate. I wanted to say something, to fight, but I couldn't without risk of letting my wolf out. I ran out of the house quicker than ever before. This was really bad.

When I woke up the next day I dreaded life its self. My father wasn't talking to me and I had to go to school. Which we, in fact, shared with the Bane pack.

With my wolf giving me the mental support I needed I quickly got ready for school. I didn't want to run into my parents, trying to avoid the mixed looks of pity from my mom and anger from my dad, so I ran past the kitchen to my car, skipping breakfast. I quickly got comfortable in my blue jeep and cranked the toons. It was a perfectly gloomy day in Washington and with the Dirty Heads blaring in the background all I wanted was to keep on driving until this all was a nasty memory.

I parked in my usual spot close to the front of the school and began walking towards Aberdeen High School. As usual, I felt everyone's eyes on me. Some stared in awe and others in jealousy, but it didn't bother me. Long ago I had to come to terms with the fact that I was a spectacle.  A female strong enough to be trained as an Alpha was no easy feat. I was almost to my locker when I caught Aarons scent. He was coming down the hall behind me and I prepared myself for the face down. I reach my locker and open it as Aaron leaned on the locker next to mine, brooding stare and all.
