Eleanor's POV
In New York the nightclubs are known to bring out the best of you. Love dancing? Your feet could be on fire by the end of the night. Want a drink? They got those too. Looking for a hook up? No Tinder needed.
Of course all nightclubs had a dance stage, a bar, and people, but there wasn't anything compare than being in New York. It is unique. After living here for five years, it had become my hometown.
Tonight, just like any other Friday, was my night out with my girls. After a long day at the office and consuming anything but coffee, it was time to start the weekend with a bang!
Sadly, my old sister doesn't approve of my wild nights. At least not since she got married and had a baby. What a party pooper! I still lingered for the nights we went out together. Oh well, she still means the world to me. Actually, she's all I have left.
I blame it all on Rick, my dear brother in law. With his gorgeous blue eyes and blond hair, my sister was a goner. I can still remember the day my sister told me she was getting married, it was the day I knew I lost her. Emily told me she was only getting married not moving to another planet, but I knew what that meant, I was now second best.
True to their word, they kept me close. I began to see Rick as family and not as a plague. I had trust issues, you see. Yet Rick proved himself worthy of my sister. Being a famous lawyer and all, but most importantly the immense love he has for her.
Then came the news, Emily was pregnant. Great, not only I had to share the only person I had in this world with Rick but now a little thing was joining us. I knew Emily so badly wanted a family that she craved it. Family was something we never had.
The best thing that Rick and Emily did together was baby Harper. When baby Harper was born, I didn't think I could possibly love a person more than Emily. I knew I was gonna spoil her rotten, but I was not going babysit, change diaper, etc. I lived life at its best and that wasn't child proof.
Grabbing my clutch with ID, phone, and keys, I was ready to go. I was heading to the elevator when there was a sign posted 'Out of Oder: Maintenance coming tomorrow morning'. This was outrageous! I lived in a penthouse of a five star fifteen floor building, and the elevator is not being inspected until tomorrow morning?! Taking off my five inch heels, I headed for the stairs.
As I was descending the stairs, I noticed movers on the fourteenth floor. I felt bad for whoever was moving below me, I tend to have parties once in awhile. Let's just say I wasn't the favorite neighbor.
Just as I reached the the lobby, I heard the building's front desk guy Mikey say, "Going out, Ellie?"
I gave him my signature smile that gave any guy a hard on, "You betcha." I stopped right at the desk. "Someone moving below me?"
"Yeah, some rich guy but apparently he's working late so he's letting the movers do all the work now." Hand it to Mikey to tell you the gossip in this building.
"Hmm...well I'm out Mikey. Don't wait up on me!" I called out while leaving through the glass door. The valet already had my Audi parked outside. I got in and drifted to the New York traffic.
Many songs and shots later, I was still going. I realized that I needed a break and went to seat. I met up with three of my still single friends. It got to the point where almost all my sorority sisters from college declined going out after getting married. Surely they could bring their husbands and party at the same time! It wasn't like being twenty-three is old.
"Girls, guess what?" We all looked at my friend Andrea. "I'm getting married!" While the other girls squealed, I just smiled. Great, there goes another one.
