Hey guys! sorry for not updating for four days. I was kinda busy with Eid preparations and then this chapter is 1100 words so it took a lot of time and rewrites until the finished product was ready. I would try to be more active now. Hope you all are safe and like this update :)

Even though life at home was not the best, both the twins happily spent their eleven years happily.

Today they would be turning twelve years old. Both, Anna and Jae waited for this day t o come for months as Zinnia and Fred had promised to do something special on their twelfth birthday.

Both of them, who never had any party thrown or had anything special done just for them, mainly because it would be a waste of money and time, were counting down days to the 12th of September.

"Thank you mum! Thank you dad," The twins hugged their parents when Zinnia made the announcement as the family was eating breakfast.

"Only if you both behave yourselves," Zinnia said detaching herself from the hug.

Ann and Jae certainly did behave themselves. They went to bed early and did all the chores around the house. Both of them kept their cramped room tidy even though usually it was a mess. Both of them tried very hard to fall on Zinnia's level of behaved.

...

The sun peeked from the cloudless sky on the morning of September 12th.

Ann woke up from the beep of her alarm clock. She sat up rubbing her eyes and glanced over to the clock. 8:05 it read. All she wanted was to sleep in as Jae and her stayed up late at night anticipating what would happen tomorrow, but she knew that it would set Zinnia in a bad mood so she got up and splashed her face with water.

She looked into the mirror over the sink. The reflection of a small girl, with blue eyes, a small pale face and brown hair stared back at her. Ann grinned looking at the mirror. Her reflection grinned back.

"Ann, Jae! Wake up," Zinnia knocked at the door to their room as Jae set up rubbing his eyes.

Ann dried her face with a towel and went over to Jae's bed.

"Happy birthday Jae," she said.

"Happy birthday," he smiled back as she pulled him into a hug.

"Both of you get dressed and come downstairs!" Zinnia shouted at the door again.

Ann pulled herself from the hug as Jae went to their closet. She walked over to their door and tore the calendar, counting down the days from their birthday away.

She dressed herself in an ivory blue skirt and a white ribbon held her hair together. She looked lovely as the blue of her skirt bought out the colour of her eyes.

Jae wore a white shirt, jeans and his favorite converse. When both of them were satisfied by how they looked they went downstairs where their parents were waiting for them on the breakfast table.

Fred's face was covered with the daily newspaper while Zinnia poured herself some coffee.

"Good morning," the twins said in monotone.

"Morning," Zinnia replied crisply.

They sat themselves down on their usual spot and munched down on their eggs and bacon.

"Happy birthday, Ann. Happy Birthday Jae," Fred greeted. The corner of his kind brown eyes wrinkled as he smiled.

Both of them grinned and thanked him.

"So I was thinking maybe we can go on a little picnic and eat out today, as a treat. What do you say?" Fred continued.

"Dad! Yes of course we would love it," Jae shouted excitedly as Ann nodded her head in agreement.

"Can we bring any of our friends with us?" Ann asked.

"This is a picnic Ann not a field trip," Zinnia said stirring her coffee. She looked bored.

"Yes you can," Fred answered ignoring her.

"Thank you dad! I am going down to invite them all," Ann stood up as she drank her orange juice in one big gulp.

She skipped down the road and knocked on Soph and Jack's door.

A hunched back lady, with a paper like skin and a walking stick answered the door.

"What do you want?" she questioned Ann rudely.

"Hello Mrs. Kurt I was wondering if I could meet Soph and Jack," Ann smiled not minding her friends' ill-tempered grandmother.

"I don't know where both of the rascals are, check in the park. I heard them both going down there," she replied as she shut the door on Ann's face.

Because she did not want to deal with Laura and Grazer's guardians alone she went down to the park to find Soph and Jack. Luckily Laura and Grazer were there already.

"Hey!" she said as she approached the group.

"Happy Birthday Ann!" all of them stood to hug and wish her.

"What are you all doing down here?" she asked them as she sat down on the soft grass.

"Gran's not very nice today so Jack and I came down here," Soph laughed lightly.

"Laura what about you?" Jack asked.

"Aunty had a row with her boyfriend and she would bite anyone who comes near her so I thought it would be better to come down here," she said closing the book that she was reading.

They all laughed because Laura's Aunt's fights with her boyfriend over petty things were entertaining to them. Everyone looked at Grazer expectedly as they waited for him to speak.

"Laura bought me here," he said throwing a stone across. "What about you?" he asked Ann.

"Well Mom and Dad agreed to do something special today. So they are taking us for a picnic," Ann said smiling.

"Us?" Grazer pressed.

"Yeah, all of us," Ann replied.

"Really? I didn't know they were that kind," He said as everyone laughed again.

...

Ann knocked on her door loudly as she heard angry voiced from inside. The Hexas would be coming over at two o'clock so that they can all go.

"Ann, over here," Jae said from behind her.

"What happened?" she asked eyeing his worried expression.

"Mom doesn't want to take everyone; she says it would be useless to spend money on the rest of the lot,"

"Oh," she said as she sat down on the front door stairs. Jae followed suit.

"It's our day though, why are they ruining it?" she asked sadly.

"I don't know,"

"This is the best birthday ever," Jae said as Ann laughed at his sarcasm

"I wish we could go away somewhere, just you and me," she looked at Jae.

"Why just me and you?" he asked.

"Because I just want to laugh with you for the rest of my life,"

"And what if I leave?"

"You won't, I know you won't because the real ones stay with you forever."

What do you think would happen next? :)
