"So class, you have to substitute 'x' with 'cos y' in the fourth problem and then do the integration by applying the concept of partial fraction. This is the only fool proof method to solve this question," Mr. Andrews said while scribbling on the whiteboard vigorously.
"And for the millionth time, please don't forget to add '+ c' at the end of your final result. For Newton's sake, we are doing indefinite integrals," he blabbered on.
I glanced at the clock and mentally groaned, realizing I still had to endure ten more minutes of this torturous class. Calculus had never been my cup of tea, I hated the subject with a burning passion. Though I think the word 'hate' was an understatement to describe my feeling towards it.
I looked at Noah, who was deeply engrossed in his notebook, wondering how he was so good at this thing; where as I struggled to memorize the freaking formulas only, let alone solve the problems. During moments like this, I really envied his mathematical skills, he was truly gifted. My guy here had been to International Math Olympiad and won tonnes of medals. Also, he was the sole reason why I didn't fail a single semester of Calculus. He tutored me and Aiden whenever we needed some assistance regarding Math. No matter how silly our doubts would be, he would always try his best to help us out.
Speaking of Aiden, I found him snoring besides me. I chuckled lightly and started to doodle some random characters on my notebook. "Wow! what a lovely way to utilize the pages of my almost vacant exercise book,"I thought to myself.
"Mr. Andrews, is the final answer 'sec x multiplied by tan x + c'?"
"You're absolutely correct Noah, well done!"
My prayers were answered as the wretched bell eventually rang.
"Alright class, you're dismissed. Turn in your assignments by next week, otherwise you're failing calculus. Now get outta here and let this old man have his lunch in peace."
I grabbed Noah and Aiden by their arms and rushed towards the cafeteria.
"Damn girl! Are you trying to break my wrist or what?"
"Oh I'm so sorry Aiden! I didn't realise you were a fragile little butterfly."
"You see Hayley, I'm not made up of adamantium or any Wolverine crap like that. My skeleton is formed of bones, and as you know bones are highly susceptible to fractures and injuries. Therefore, you might have broken my arm when you grasped it with such an immense amount of force."
"Aww! Such a drama queen you are, Aiden!" I mocked him.
"Whoa guys! Enough of your jibes, we don't wanna be late in meeting up with rest of the squad," Noah said while trying to suppress a grin.
Soon we arrived at our usual table. Madelyn, Vanessa, Jacob and Chad were already present there, waiting for us.
"Here cometh thy golden trio," Vanessa exclaimed.
"And again.....they're not on time, I mean, is it really a surprise?" Madelyn said, completing Vanessa's remark.
"Can you really blame me? With Hayley and Aiden bickering like an old married couple, you're bound to be late everywhere." Noah grumbled.
I smacked Noah on the head.
"Ow! What was that for?"
