Today was the day I finally got to go to the school of my dreams.
Hi, I'm Eddie Kaspbrak. You're probably wondering, what the fuck are you talking about? Well, where should I start?
I live with my mom. It's just her and I, my dad died when I was a baby and now I live a pretty normal life. Now for the interesting stuff! It's always been my dream to be a super hero. I've always looked up to Lavaman, he's got to be my favorite of all time. The thing is, my powers are kinda lame. I was born with the ability to talk to dead people. That's it. Such a useful super power when you're up against a villian with the ability to melt your face off, right?
Anyways, my mom always keeps me indoors, she says I'm too fragile to be a super hero. I mean, I do have asthma and countless other diseases....so, that holds me back. But, I've trained and trained...my resemay. I'm good at academics and volunteer a lot. That's how I got into Super Hero Academy. My mom thinks I'm going to some smart people school, if she knew where I was really going she would go ballistic. Now that you're caught up, guess I can continue my adventure.
The gates of Super Hero Academy loomed over me. I stared up at the gates in awe. I'm actually here. I made it.
"State your name and power!" A voice ordered from the speakers.
I cleared my throat. "Eddie....Uhm....Kaspbrak! And I can communicate with the dead!"
There was silence.
Did I seriously mess up before I even went through the gates?!
The gates opened and I gasped. Oh thank God. I couldn't help but grin and walk in.
A tall man wearing a trench coat and shades stopped me. "Are you a new student?" I nodded quickly. "Yes, sir."
"Tests are that way." He nudged his head towards a huge building that had a sign that read, "Testing Stations". "Oh, uhm, thank you, sir..!"
"Uh huh." The man walked away. Ok then. He sure is friendly. I shrugged and quickly entered the testing stations building. It was huge! There were hundreds of students in different sections of the building. I gulped and looked around. I had no idea where to go. "Hi, are you a new student?" A taller boy with blue eyes and light brown hair asked. I looked up at him. "Hm? Uh, yes. I am a new student. Heh." He smiled. "I'm Bill, Bill Denbrough. Nice to meet you." He held out his hand. I shook it and was in disbelief. Bill Denbrough? I've heard about him! He's one of the heroes chosen to be on the newest super hero team!
"Hi! Nice to meet you too! Oh! And I'm E-Eddie Kaspbrak! Heh."
"Cool! Well, I can help you find a testing station if you want." Bill Denbrough was not only speaking to me but was going to help me too? Wow! What a first day!
"That would be great! Thanks!"
We went over to one of the testing stations and I prepared. Oh yeah! I never really explained what these tests were for! So, basically the tests are to find out if you're a hero or villian! And depending on another aspect of the test determines what house you go to. There was the Heathens, Champions, Placids, and Scholars. The Heathens made up most of the villians in the school. Yes, I know it's weird that villains even attend Super Hero Academy, but without villains there would be no heroes! The Placids made up the heroes that were more peaceful and used their powers for other uses, aside from battles and confrontation. The Scholars were the heroes that were extremely intelligent and could use their powers in medical fields and other smart people stuff. And the best for last! The Champions included the heroes that would battle the villains and protect our world! They're heroic and the best! That's the house I'm striving to be in!
"Please fill out this paper and wait in line." Who I assumed was a teacher said in a monotone voice.
"Ok! Thanks!" I grabbed the paper and filled it out quickly and waited in line. "Hey, meet me at the cafeteria when you're done with your test, man!" Bill said suddenly. "Ok! Sounds like a plan!" I said with a huge grin. "Mhm! See ya!" Bill walked off. I can't believe Bill Denbrough wants to hang out with me! I really lucked out, huh?
After a half hour of waiting I took the test.
The test consisted of an answering questions type of test, showing your abilities, and taking the pure of heart test. I would find out my results in a few minutes, and I was nervous beyond belief.
"Edward Kaspbrak, please come here." One of the heads of the test said. I quickly walked over. There were three judges there and they were looking at a paper in disbelief. Oh no....I failed it, didn't I?! I felt my lungs tighten and grabbed my inhaler quickly. I took two puffs of the medicine and felt my lungs relax.
"Are you ok?" One of the judges asked.
I nodded quickly. "Yeah! I just have asthma. Heh."
The judge nodded and looked even more confused at what was on the paper. Dammit!! What's so unbelievable on that fucking paper?!
"Uhm, Mr.Kaspbrak."
I looked over quickly. "Yes?"
"It seems you got the highest ranking of a hero in all of Super Hero Academy history....You also are in the Champion house. Along with that, you are pure of heart." The head of the test said, seeming shocked with every word coming out of his mouth.
My eyes widened and I began to tear up. Seriously..? The highest score ever?! I grinned. "That's amazing! Uhm, what do I do now?" I asked in disbelief.
"Take this." The head of the test handed me a golden card. "This will allow you access to anything a hero can access and show it to the cafeteria people to get free lunch."
I gasped and looked at the golden card. This is actually the best day ever!
"Thank you!" I said with an even bigger grin and headed to the cafeteria.
When I got there I looked around for Bill. I spotted him sitting with two other boys.
I took a deep breath and sat next to Bill. "Hi..!"
Bill looked over and smiled. "Hey! How did the test go?"
"It went great! Uhm, I got one of these." I held up the golden card.
Bill looked at it in disbelief. "A golden card..?" I nodded slowly. "Yeah....They said it gives me access to a bunch of stuff and I can get free lunch. Heh."
His friends looked at me in shock.
"Nobody has gotten a golden card in over 50 years...." Bill said.
I gasped. "Wait, what? I thought all heroes got one."
Bill shook his head and pulled out a silver card. "Normal heroes get silver cards."
"Really? What's so special about a golden one?"
"It means you're pure of heart and the truest hero of our generation, man." Bill said with a grin.
My jaw dropped. "Seriously?!"
Bill nodded. "Seriously." He snickered. "I sensed something special in you when you walked in."
"Really?" I asked, still in shock.
"Mhm! I bet they're going to put you on the team." Bill said with a snicker.
"The newest super hero team?!"
"Yup! Me, Mike, and Ben are the only ones on it so far! But, they are DEFINITELY going to put someone of your ranking on it." Bill said with a grin.
"Hi, I'm Mike Hanlon! Nice to meet you Mr.Pure of Heart!" Mike said with a snicker.
"And I'm Ben Hanscom!" Ben said with a smile.
"Hi! I'm Eddie Kaspbrak!" I said, attempting not to sound nervous.
"What house are you in?" Bill asked suddenly.
"Oh, uhm, Champions."
"Awesome! I'm in Champions and so is Ben. Mike's in Scholars with all the nerds though." Bill said with a snicker.
"Woooow! Low blow, Bill!" Mike said with a snicker.
"Yeah, yeah. I know." Bill said with a grin.
"All new students report to your designated house for the presentations!" A woman spoke over the loudspeakers.
"Oh....I better go. I'll see you guys later..!"
"See ya Eddie! And good luck!" Bill said while giving a thumbs up. Ben and Mike smiled and waved. I smiled and started my journey to the Champions building! Here we go!
