The knock on the door startled Jack. As weak as it was, it rang out in the silence of the room, echoing slightly off of the high ceiling, the sound only mildly dampened by the paper on the walls. Rising from his seat in front of the desk, the tall man strode over to the doorway, brow wrinkling as he scowled. He hated visitors.

The hollow sound came again as he approached the door. Yanking it open with a furious expression, he suddenly came face to face with a certain golden haired boy, who was staring at his own feet, face obscured by the light locks falling in front of his face.

"What are you doing here?" It was more of a statement than a question but the young hero standing before him took is to be the latter.

"I was fighting her and I can't do it alone, so I need your help cause they're awful, and yes I fight people worse than you and I didn't know where else to go, and I just... I just..." The younger man's whole body slumped, posture changing, falling, looking more dejected and hopeless by the second.

"She's ruthless. She spares no mercy to the weak or the old... I can't stop her. She... She took everything." The golden haired hero lifted his head slightly, body shaking slightly. "I need your help to stop her. She's more than I can take."

Jack crossed his arms, staring past his young counterpart into the night behind him. A soft, cool breeze blew past him, ruffling the boy's hair and blowing through the older man's military style crew cut.

"What would I get in return for helping you?" Jack's deep baritone, cut through the other noises after a moment's silence. "You should know by now that I do nothing for free. What do you have to offer that could possibly tempt me to come to your rescue?"

The younger man dropped to his knees, hands on the ground in front of him.

"Anything. I will give you anything. You can have my body, my life! Please, just... help me stop her," At this point the blond was shaking head to toe. Jack considered the offer, staring down at the boy kneeling at his feet, taking in the bloodied knuckles, limbs quivering with fatigue and the dirty hair.

"My dear Angus," Jack squatted so that he was almost eye level with his counterpart, and saw the boy flinch at the use of his first name, but other than that noticed no reaction.

"You poor thing," The villain took the blond boy's chin in his hand, pulling his face up to look him in the eye. "Came calling to me for help because you coul-"

Jack's voice cut off when he saw the younger man's face. It was cut and bloodied and covered in bruises, but the worst part was his eyes. The once bright, captivating blue was now the milky grey of sightless eyes. A wound ran across the blond's face, running across both yes and most likely causing the horrible condition.

"She blinded you?" The taller man's voice came out a whisper, horrified and disbelieving.

"I told you she took everything," Angus replied, voice hoarse and quiet. He sounded hopeless, lost. "I have nothing left to lose, because i have nothing left."

Jack pushed the blond hair out of the younger man's face and his expression hardened, turning stoney, but his hands remained gentle as he helped the hero up off the ground and into his house.

"I'm going to kill her," He said, voice trembling with rage as he swore to himself that no harm would ever come to the blond hero, not while he was still breathing. "I'm going to kill her and make sure she knows it was me who did it."
