Prologue
"Do you ever just wonder what it would be like if one thing went wrong?" Harry asked suddenly, his hand becoming still on my back. I remained silent knowing he wasn't done speaking, resting my cheek against his chest. "I've always thought back to the days before all of this."
"And what do you see?" I asked him, laying my chin on my hands as I stared into his green eyes.
I felt his fingers start tracing imaginary patters on my back once again. "It's stupid," he mumbled.
"Harry," I frowned at him. He knew I hated when he did that. I put my hand on his cheek and he turned to kiss my palm.
"Sometimes I can't help but wish I could be normal," he whispered and I saw a strike of pain in his eyes. "I wish I could be good enough..."
"Good enough? But you're perfect Harry," I assured him, wondering just where all these thoughts were coming from.
Harry laughed bitterly, the sound sending unwanted shivers down my spine. "If I'm so perfect then why am I such a fuck up?"
