Inspector Lunge visits Eva at his residence to asks her if she knows anything regarding the tie found at the Heidelberg Castle crime scene.
Eva visits Miles at the Eisler Memorial Hospital trying to make up . Miles rejects her and Eva tells him how she protected him from the police and that if he stays with her she will not say a thing to Lunge.
Miles rejects her again and Eva threatens to go to the police.
Eva goes to Lunge and explains everything. Lunge asks to bring Miles to the police station for the Heidelberg Castle murder. At the same time, Miles resigns from the hospital.
The police arrives to the hospital looking for Miles who is now wanted for murder , but he manages to escape in an ambulance .
Five months later ,he is seen hitchhiking to verde, now carrying a gun.
Lunge interrogates Hugo Bernhardt about Miles taking part in a combat seminar at Bernhardt's training ground. Bernhardt tells that Miles got a perfect score in his technique, built a good level of stamina and concentration; nevertheless, Bernhardt points out that he is dubious as whether he can kill a person using a gun or not. Lastly, Lunge asks Bernhardt where he is headed but he refuses to answer.
Five months before that, Miles had came to Bernhardt's training ground to learn how to use a gun. There he met a Burmese girl whose mother was killed in an accident. Bernhardt says the girl has never smiled since.
Miles keeps improving his shooting and athletic skills at the training camp. One day, he cooks some Japanese food, but Bernhardt is unable to eat using chopsticks, which seems to be funny for him and the girl .
Miles leaves the camp. He also leaves the money and another portion of beef potato. Since Bernhardt is still unable to eat using the chopsticks, the girl finally laughs.
