Bruno stopped speaking to his father. Bruno stopped speaking to his mother. And he stopped speaking to Gretel too. She removed her maps and removed her posters but Bruno still wouldn't talk. He spoke to Maria though. Sometimes. But all he'd do is ask to see the Fury. Then he'd hide in his room and rarely come out while watching out of the window where soldiers would look up at him embarrassed. And look at his father too. More nervously. They knew what happened in the camps and so did everyone else. And Bruno couldn't handle it. So he'd sleep at day and every night he'd sneak his tired body through the garden and through the forest where he saw no trace of anyone ever visiting. Had it been that long?

It was long another to make Bruno shiver. Or was that the cold, dark night as he made his way through the trees? Well Bruno has no idea but he didn't like it. Not one bit. Not even when he reached to fence where he and his friend used to meet and speak. But he did remember everything. The first time they met. The conversations they had. That horrible mark Kotler gave to the poor boy. And the time Bruno went in, the time Shmeul died. And that was all they had ever experienced; over. But Bruno still lives. He wanted to see the Fury. Why couldn't he? He was the reason all this happened and the reason it all went wrong. But then Bruno had an idea. And he knew he couldn't stop the thought of it. He had to try it. He had to.

He had to free the Jews.

He looked down at where he dug under the fence and, in his red pyjamas, crawled under and ran towards the huts. The wind was getting colder but once he was in he was in and nothing could've stopped that. Bruno ran to the place he failed to search with his friend and looked around it. Everyone was sleeping so he ran over to the nearest prisoner he could find and shook them quietly." Shhhh, we're going to leave here!" Bruno said quietly. The man who awoke was quite skinny with small eyes but his eyes widened with fear when Bruno said what he said. He was in fear and started shaking before he whispered "You should not be here, go, now." quietly but that wasn't enough to stop Bruno. "What? Why not?" He asked. "Because, you are in danger! And you must go!" He warned before looking at Bruno carefully. "You're that boy aren't you??" The skinny man asked. Bruno was confused. "What boy?" He enquired in uncertainty. " The boy the soldiers keep speaking of! The one with the Father you got in trouble who now has to go see Hitler!" The man explained worriedly. Bruno was shook. "Hitler?" Bruno questioned. "The Führer!" Said the prisoner. Oh no. Bruno was in trouble.... "WHAT?-" He started as he then covered his mouth and started to run back.

" WHO'S TALKING?!" The guard asked as Bruno ran and ran and ran to the other side of the dirt where the hole in the fence was. " JEW-STOP!" The guard cried in anger before loud foosteps approached Bruno from the distance until he got under the fence and looked back quickly only to see a soldier in black running towards him with a light. He stopped at the fence and shot through it as Bruno sped through the woods. He ran down the path until he got further and further into the forest only to stop-the light hadn't got any dimmer and was shinning through the trees! Bruno legged it and changed direction through an unexplored part of the forest as he tried to escape the light only to get as far away from it as possible until he found a small clearing with a hole in it too dark to fully see. But it wasn't long before Bruno noticed it was filled with Payjamas. Stripped Payjamas. And he wasn't the only one there as Bruno saw two lights and heard people speaking before setting the pile alight. But that wasn't it. That was not all Bruno was surrounded by, two people and Payjamas. For in the pile was not just payjamas but people wearing them; most of which never moved and were still unlike the people underneath them who screamed in fear and pain as Bruno realised what was happening and stood back in fear only for the two soldiers to notice him and chase him back through the dark, dark woods and along the dark, gravely path until-

They all stared at him; waiting with the lights on. Mum. Father. Gretel. Maria. And the soldiers. All of them. And that was when they packed their stuff and Bruno would never see Out-with again-but he wouldn't forget it either.
