"It's so cold out here, why are you out here all alone?"

The lonely wind breeze of the winter night was cold against my already dry skin as I looked over to the boy sitting alone on the boat deck. The winter snow fell atop of the both of us and I could feel the little tingles they left after they started dissipating at my skin's warmth.

It's not like I thought I was going to get a reply out of him. Maybe some sort of movement or gestures though. Maybe one that told me to go away, or one that told me to shut up.. but there was nothing.

Absolutely nothing.

"Jeesh, you must be freezing." I sighed, walking even the slightest bit towards him. My hand was to touch his shoulder before time flew bypass silently. It felt like not even a half-second had passed before I held the heavy metal weapon in my hand.

I examined the blade, it was a stainless steel. It had obvious dents that inferred that it was used recklessly for a long period of time. I could smell the faintest tingles of another metallic smell that wasn't the blade.

Blood.

"This is a nice blade, where'd you get it?"

I could hear him grunt in pain, his breathing distorted as he looked up to me with an incredibly sharp look. I held his arm in a position behind his back where he could feel his muscles tightening at my grip to the point where he felt like crying out.

"Come on, don't be like that." I sighed, pushing him away from me nonchalantly until his back hit the back of the boat where he was before.

"Give.. that.. back." His dirty blonde hair covered his eyes, I was unable to let me see the emotion on his face at the moment.

I moved closer to him.

He tried to force himself farther away from me, but since he was at the back of the boat; he couldn't go far. He looked at me in the eyes warily, unsure of what my motive was.

"S-stay away." He sighed, holding the other blade he had up, trying to threaten me away with it.

When my face was point-blank from him, I sat down besides him, handing him his blade back.

"Sorry, bad first-impressions, right?" The smile on my lips was somewhat genuine. It was interesting to see a boy my age look so disgruntled and serious like a middle aged man after his wife left him.

I was starting to get cold as the mother nature's winter bit at me slowly, forcing my body heat out of my body slowly.

"Ah.. so cold," I took the blanket from his side and moved it so it covered the both of us.

"What are you doing?" The look in his eyes was not amused.

"Sharing our heat, duh?" I lean closer to him, so close in fact, that our elbows touched and my head leaned against his shoulder.

The warmth of another human being felt like a past-time. It didn't feel real enough to be reality, yet it didn't feel fake enough to be a dream.

He didn't seem to pull away, but I could tell he was uncomfortable with the new feeling rushing throughout his body, coursing throughout his veins intently.

"What's your name?" I sighed out, unable to think of anything else at the moment. We were in such an awkward position, and it'd be even more awkward if I didn't say anything. Plus, I just met this kid; even more awkward.
