Dear Molly,

I saw you in class today, I thought it was the day you'd finally speak to me, since I learned on the second day of class I wouldn't be talking to you. I've made friends, many and I can start up a conversation with ANY other student on this campus, but you- Molly you're breathtaking, you're so beautiful to look at, talking to you would probably give me a heart attack. I got a notebook from the store, I've never been fond of writing but today sparked something bold. So as of today, September 15, you're going to receive a letter from me once a week..or maybe once a month. I'm busy with school.

Yours,

James

I reread the note, several times before laying my pen down on the desk. I went to the metal lockbox under my bed, and unlocked it, placing the notebook inside, and locking it back up once more. I slid the lockbox back underneath my bed and started on my homework. I didn't get very far, the letter distracted me, I couldn't write her a letter without trying to get to know her. But I couldn't speak to her, I was too shy.

Professor Maverick let us pick our seats finally, I had made acquaintances with Jane, she was a good friend to have. Jane loved animals, so her major reflected that. She had an entire foundation planned out, one that, if funded would be super successful. She named it "Project Protection," a foundation which she'd use her biology degree to rescue animals whom are endangered, keeping them in the sanctuary she'd build, until their habitat can be restored. She doesn't like the idea of keeping them forever, like zoos, "they should have their home, like we have ours." She says, "you wouldn't like it if someone took you from your home and placed you in a cage while random creatures came and looked at you all day long."  I promised her that if I ever became a billionaire I'd help her out. Being Jane's friend had nothing to do with Molly, in fact, we never brought up Molly, I thought it might have been better to mind my business and graduate college. If Molly wanted to talk to me, she would.

As I got to know Jane, I grew more and more fond of her. The creativity she has inside her head is prodigious. We quickly grew close, she was the brains and we were both the looks. Jane always told me I looked like Leonardo DiCaprio, and that she has the biggest crush on Leo. I think that's a compliment. I didn't have feelings for Jane, and reciprocally she didn't either. We were friends, just friends. She knew I liked Molly, but her response was always, "Molly's difficult," or something along those lines. I didn't care if she was difficult, I wanted her. Jane figured that out quickly, after I turned down every girl that wanted to date me, my excuse, they weren't good enough.

We did everything together, dances, parties, jobs, classes. Anthony wanted me to get Jane to go on a date with him, I asked her. She agreed. They hit it off, and began dating. It was going well until Anthony killed an insect, and Jane happened to see. She cried and shouted and they broke up. I punched Tony, it was an instinct. You don't risk losing a girl like Jane simply because, "it's a stupid bug," not when she cares about that. I helped Jane bury the bug, and she cried on my shoulder, between you and I, it was absurd. A funeral for a bug? But it's what she needed, so it's what we did. And from that day forward, Jane began her crush. The most inevitable moment of my freshman year. I loved Jane, but I didn't want to ruin what we had. However, when she asked me and I gave her that response, she told me nothing would ever ruin us because we're not like others. So we began dating. And it worked, for a while.

A new boy named Alexander joined our public speaking class, leaving his old one behind. Jane instantly hit it off with him, dumping me. I wasn't upset, because part of me thinks I only dated Jane because it's what she wanted, if that made me bad then so be it. After a few months, her and Alexander made things official, and I'd never been happier. Alexander was a biology major as well, but he wanted to be a marine biologist. The two of them discussed plans for a water sanctuary, and Jane drew up her plans. My mind slowly fixed itself back on Molly, only this time Jane got herself involved.
