The radio from my alarm clock was the first thing that I remember waking up to. Every morning it always greets me with a buzz and tunes to my favorite station. I shifted onto my side and finally fluttered my eyes open. Humming the tune of a familiar song, I slowly make my way up and lower the volume, checking the time. It's 7:45 A.M. Just under an hour before opening. It's difficult to tell time in a land covered in darkness.

It has been 6 and a half years now since finding my way in the Dark World. I don't remember how it had exactly happened. One day I just woke up here after sleeping in my old cozy home. Strangely enough, I don't remember much of the old times when I lived on the surface. Not my friends, parents, hobbies, or anything related. I won't lie and say I don't miss the light world, but am content with the life I have now.

I finally prop myself out of bed, remembering how I need to help open the shop up. I figured with Seam being much older, he'd be thankful that I had opened the shop for him. This wouldn't be my first time I had done so, but I don't get to often. I head towards my dresser to put on something decent and finally make my way to the front shop. I sweep the floors of cat hair and debris from other patrons and make it look as presentable as possible.

8:23 A.M. I'm just about to open shop when I hear shuffling from the hallway, just behind the store. Seam was finally awake and seemed pleased with how the shop looked. Every lamp was lit up, floors and shelves cleaned, and items neatly displayed throughout the shop. Seam gave me a warm smile.

"I see that you're awake... and remembered just how I like to keep my humble shop." He nodded his head as if agreeing with himself and turned to me.

"Young lady, have you had any time to make yourself some breakfast before doing this?" I shake my head and smile.

"No, I haven't yet," I spoke, Seam shook his head in disapproval.

"How about I bring you some toast and brew up some nice ginseng tea for us both? We have just enough time before we open," Seam offered.

"Yes sir, that sounds lovely," I felt my stomach growl, telling me to hurry up and follow Seam.

Seam places the kettle on the stove and puts a couple pieces of bread in a toaster. I gather the butter, jams, and glasses for our drinks. Seam smiled at this, noticing that I'm putting more work than usual. He and I both sit down with our food and Seam pours me my tea.

"So, I've noticed that you've been working a lot harder than normal. Is there a reason?" Seam questioned almost smugly. I was taken aback, but now was my chance. I cleared my throat and sat up straight.

"Mr. Seam, you've seen me be very responsible, having been able to take care of this shop very well," I started, Seam nodded.

"And you know how I am old enough to be on my own now..." Seam raised an eyebrow at that comment.

"Yes... I suppose you are getting much older now..." Seam replied, sipping his tea. Hopping up in excitement, I couldn't contain my question much longer.

"So can I go to the Kingdom ball this year?!" I excitingly ask with a huge smile spread on my face. Seam blinked for a second.

"Tonight...?" he blurted in confusion and shock. I clasp my hands together and lean against the table.

"It's just... Jade is going with some of her friend and..."

"The rudinn? What other friends?" Seam shook his head. "More importantly, why in all of the Dark Kingdom would you want to go to a ball?"
