A lion in my eyes. A lion fierce yet protecting, smart yet loyal. All the characteristics when I think of her. She never spoke, only ever watched. Watched the birds in the trees, the people along the street, and each and every car that passed by. Until one day she stopped. Instead she planted a tree, she paid a compliment to everyone along the street, and she waved to every single person on the road. Why would she do this, who would care enough to do what she did? The next few days were nice, everybody seemed a little happier. That only lasted for a week. Once the week was over she was back to watching. She watched the children play, the butterflies fly, and everyone who entered every building in sight. Then just like smoke, she was gone. Then she came back and fixed the broken swing, she drew the butterflies, and she greeted as many people as she could with a handshake and a smile. This happiness lasted longer, but it still ended. Why does she keep trying when the happiness will never last? She for a third time disappeared, and just like that she was watching people once again. She watched men come home late from work, she watched the women struggle to go shopping with their children, and she watched a young boy die of cancer at the hospital. How is she going to fix this? It will truly take a miracle. She left once again, but this time she didn't come back. Finally after months of waiting she returned. Not in person, but we know she was there. Roses and checks appeared on the doorstep for every man and his wife to find, the children seemed quiet and happier, the young boy, well he happily made it to heaven. As for the young boys' parents, they now donate every moment they can to helping cancer children. How did she pull it off? It was a real miracle, she was a miracle? Walking through the town seeing everyone light up with joy as they find their gifts. I couldn't help but think, "who is this miracle" At home sitting on my front porch was a letter from her. It read "I've seen you watching me, I hope you learned the lesson I have taught you. Never quit. Even if it doesn't last the first or second time, keep trying until it does. Never forget that. Sincerely B". That was the last time anyone has ever seen her. No mention of her in the news, but her happiness stuck this time. She was truly a lion in my eyes.
